Regardless of how many people use the word, it is not the correct name for a homosexual. It's also commonly used as an insult, which is why it is censored.

So I cant say gay but I can say ****, mick, ****, *****, etc. Also, no one I know who's gay is ever called homosexual in conversation.

Yeah, I like vBulletin's filter. We have 40 words in our filter, but you barely even notice

If you type 'dog', all words containing the string 'dog' would be censored (dogma, for instance, would appear as '***ma'). To censor more accurately, you can require that censors occur only for exact words. You can do this by placing a censor word in curly braces, as in {dog}. Signifying 'dog' in the curly braces would mean that dogma would appear as dogma, but dog would appear as '***'. Thus your censor list may appear as: cat {dog} {barn} barn.

Pretty easy to achieve something like this in-game. I'd prefer it if the filter came out like "@#%$!" too instead of "****!" as it's more light-hearted that way, but that's not really important.  

i think someone needs to bring this up to stefan so he gives permission to someone to fix it, ive had entire messages not sent or replaced with "please dont use rude words" because of the swear filter is made to try to stop people getting past it and instead only becomes a nuisance.  

The swear filter has caused me much agony in the past. Sometimes when I'm angry and I would type to someone something like "Man I'm so pissed off." and it would completely not send the message because of that one word. This just made me angrier.  

Any idea why Stefan would censor "Camera?" Maybe Stefan had traumatic experiences with cameras. Or maybe he decides that "camera" is too close related to (insert random word here).  

Every little single word I use when I get mad.

The funniest thing about the swear filter is that "Gay" is blocked. Someone must be judgmental against a certain group of society.

Its funny, cause, you can say "gays" but not "gay". My friend went on his non-VIP and ran around Graal City, shouting "GAYS HAVE NO RIGHTS".
