A dark colored tile set would make it easy with no lag. As i said above. And, I, not saying GFX is easy, just the concept. The beauty of a changing tile set is that it is an illusion of night with zero haze and/or shadow.

shock does have a point. But the tile sets would have to have different shades because it cant just flick to darkness. And I like the haze of DW at night

I don't like this idea D: I went on Era PC the other day. I think they have the day/night system....it was too dark so I could rarely see anything unless if I walk into a street light. If they're gonna add it in the near future, I hope there is an option to turn it off.

Using an entirely different tileset is NOT a solution, for so many reasons.

1) Tilesets aren't small files. The process of even updating the tileset is something apparently Stefan frowns upon because of the process. 2) Levels aren't just made from tilesets. Many things are rendered as NPCs, but you can't really tell that because they use images that match the tileset. Changing the tileset(even making it darker) means all of those NPCs will suddenly not match the darkness of the tileset. This includes things like tree tops, roof tops, cave walls in some places. 3) Added onto the above, ALL npcs and players will stick out like sore thumbs. As the tileset is made darker to emulate a dark night, players and npcs will all be their regular shade, thus will be very bright against a dark tileset. This was a negative side-effect of the old backpal usage as well, where you could swap the palette of a tileset. |

The process used to make rooms appear dark works on everything except for butterfly's for some reason, but butterfly's Could become bats at night, and don't worry lia, it wouldn't be darker than like the inside of a dark building or cave.
