Are you against possibly allowing gst winners to create their own hat?
Itd be similar to 1k hats then.

I said I was fine with that in a previous post. But I'd prefer redoing tower rewards, which I suspect is probably the plan anyways.

Custom hats have always been a really messy process, with lots of stolen/copyrighted, edited and unappealing graphics. There's not 1K hat I like graphically anyways, but that's personal preference.

It will inevitably come with the bigger portion of the guild system overhaul, so to be honest this entire conversation is a moot
Pretty sure the entire concept of "tower-exclusive hats" and "GST-exclusive hats" will be non-existent and a points system will allow you to do multiple different things to achieve the rewards you want

I haven't liked a 1k guild hat for the past 2-3 years.
But I feel like the guilds that win gst or place are past the mindset of half ass hats or stolen gfx.

Yeah points sounds more enticing.
Seeing as I put several hundred hours of actual help into a guilds 1k recently just to be told Im getting the hat then get F'd out of it along with 4 or so active leads.
So at least Id know I have points to spend on certain rewards.

Didnt know this whole topic was so serious enough for this pm lol. Who am I taking sides with exactly? This whole topic is being taken past its limit. We could again like I previously suggested, add poll area for teams or sparrers to, up to 5 times, put a hat idea they want added in the GST next time. I also did infact win a gst and this reason is probably why we arent allowed to even get the option to edit the hats we win because people like this make sparrers look like **** and push new people from participating in the first place.

Makes me feel better? Lol. Why would I feel bad to begin with? You act like your opinion of me changes my while attitude on life. I know Livid & have known him for a while... That's why I was acting like that to him. I suggesg you re-read what others said to me first btw. I don't attack, but I do defend. Why are certain players against editing GST hats? It's not like most of us are expecting drastic changes to the point where it's a whole new hat.

That's really the problem. One of them at least. I said before, if they allow edits, they should just allow a custom hat entirely. Edits leave it up to the players to determine how much to edit. That leaves a lot of wiggle room for the players to go too far - or try. It also can be considered insulting by the GFX staff who made the hats if the player wants it edited too much and tries to get it uploaded by keeping the shape of the hat, but drastically changing everything else. Players also might ask for a different hat than what's offered so they can edit a 'better' one. It basically provides more power, or at least the assumption of power to the winners so that they can try to overdo it and make it difficult for the staff. The thing is, not every winner is going to do subtle changes, or want to do them, and it creates a whole hassle for the staff. Yes, it can be done smoothly and efficiently, but it won't always happen that way.

No one's asking for a remake of the hat, just an edit of one piece to represent them as a whole. Don't see why you felt you needed to write up a paragraph on how an edit can turn into a remake of the hat when in reality it isn't lol.

edit: if asking for an edit is insulting to the artists, then they obviously have never done commission of the sort.

Why can't the staff just make better hats or pay dusty and coco to make or even aeko/toxicturn they're the gods of classic

Judging by some of the past gst hats idk why they didn't allow remakes.
