to be honest, i think that going onto the app store and seeing Graal for the first time ever as "Graal the Adventure" sounds a lot more enticing than Graal Classic+. The only reason I see for ios keeping the name Classic is because there was no actual adventure as in a questline. The only "adventure" was exploring and interacting with others online in different ways. |

If you scaled the same scenario up to 1000 players instead, it would take 220 times killing the lowest ranked player to earn the same number of points (unrounded) as you would get from killing the top ranked player 20 times. I've read plenty of criticisms of iClassic sparring, in particular individuals sparring selectively with an emphasis of seeking out players who are less skilled. Does your system incentivize or decentivize this kind of behavior? How do you believe your system scales in relation to what you seek to incentivize and decentivize? What is your objective variable, and what are the constraints you have to optimizing it? Meanwhile, did you decide to use the more recent database extensions, or the binary-search/array-insert methods I hacked up? Also, how did you come to your decision about the guild points awarded for each category? What do you consider to be a healthy guild system, and what guild activities are you attempting to incentivize or decentivize with the points system? I will finish by saying that you're doing a decent job with GtA in general, though I would personally prefer if there were more players and more overworld levels to explore. Regardless of the overworld, I definitely love that there are lots of quest levels to explore. -Massokre |

??? The algorithms I used for the ranking system are public domain. And most scalable rank algorithms incorporate logarithms, e.g. Reddit's hot algorithm. Edit: I should probably state I'm more curious about what aspects of gameplay Thor's seeking to promote with his system. His announcement post doesn't provide enough information to figure that out. And as always, I'm hoping that GtA will grow again, especially because Thor attempts to emphasize the style of gameplay I like infinitely better than iClassic, despite the reservations I have about not including older "property" that also emphasizes the same. |
