I can't seriously be the only person that thinks this looks super cool. Don't be so harsh on it when you don't even know what it's going to be like. I feel like Nintendo would know better than to straight up sell flimsy cardboard to destructive children for insane prices. I seriously feel like there's more information to come. |

Another point is, what is the use of this game? Is there progress? Is there some kind of online feature? Or is it just some little gimmick? It looks like right now it would be this fun/cool little thing to mess around with for a little while before putting it away reassuring yourself that you will use it again and there is no reason to regret buying it. If there is real gameplay value and something that would keep it fun after the first few times you use it, then maybe it would be worth it (we just don't know yet so it's possible?). If not, the software itself better be free with the cardboard accessories being the thing that costs money. Lazy sounding or not, the part where you have to build the crap yourself doesn't really appeal to me and it gives off that Wendy's Kids Meal vibe to the point I would prefer it to be plastic and prebuilt, and I wouldn't even care about the fact that it would take away the personalization thing because I would never get around to that myself anyway. Common switch accessory colors (red, blue, black, yellow, white, etc.) would work just fine for me. It seems like only younger kids and anyone who has nothing to do would have time for all of this construction and personalizing. The cardboard itself doesn't even look that flimsy, it looks like thicker cardboard but cardboard will be cardboard so it probably wouldn't be that hard to damage. I would just hope the figures themselves don't fall apart easily so that you don't have to constantly put them back together. I honestly don't think this is the worst thing Nintendo has done, but I just think that there are other better things they could be focusing on for the Switch than this at the moment. UPDATE: I read more on it, and it seems like the minigames wouldn't be that bad to play, but what I would like to know if there would be online leaderboards tied to these minigames, like "Top Fish Catchers" or "Top scorers in Robot Mode". Or even a feature in the piano minigame to record the music, save it, and share it with other people to hear and try to play. Maybe there could be a mode where you try to play different Nintendo game songs (Notes would be on screen and they would fall downwards and that's the key you hit when the note is at the bottom of the screen), and there could be a leaderboard for each song. This could actually be worth it if that's the case. Now for personalization. There is going to be a designated customization kit (ugh) for an extra $8.99 which sounds kind of crazy, it comes with stencils and stickers though. I think people can easily personalize it in better, more creative ways for free/cheaper price (if they have to go on a Walmart run for the following things) with their own supplies and resources rather than buying the official Nintendo kit for it. Well that's not really a fair argument lol. Yeah the wiiU was pretty awful but they were trying something new and I feel like they recovered themselves with the switch. Not everyone gets things right on the first try.
Paper can be pretty durable if done right. Pretty sure mythbusters did an episode on paper armor and it worked lol I don't think it'll be that simple...I mean sure you might eventually be able to print it off and build it yourself, but like I said earlier it looks like there's more to it than cardboard. The joycons are like... detecting something...and that's what makes the whole thing work, so maybe there's something included in the kit that you integrate into the things you build that make it work? Like I said we've only gotten this 1 vague video and the website to go off of that doesn't really explain much. I'm sure we'll learn a lot more about it as it gets closer to the release date. Y'all so quick to bash it tho like dayum at least give it time to live before you start beating it into the mud. |

it's very inovative and practical,I applaud nintendo on that front however I would not imagine myseld paying more than 20$ for cardboard. I would think that this concept would have come from nintendos philosophy of keeping prices cheap so it's more affordable to wide audiences(and especially young families) I thaught the idea was to keep costs down for acessories because we all remember how pricey they were on the wii however that doesn't seem like the case. I don't think nintendo will do well in selling this product. |

The robot boxing part really catches my eye. This is a very interesting approach to interactive additions. I just worry about the durability of these products. Nintendo is good at making products that last. While this is cardboard, I hope it's not cheap cardboard. It's very creative. Hats off to Nintendo for having some creativity.

You just added to the argument that Nintendo hasn't always thought things through because this is the first time trying this so it could be bad. |
