This would be a lot of fun, but it's such a huge undertaking. Imagine all the different mechanics that would have to be added. Not to mention, there's so much more that would need to be worked out, in terms of balance, weaponry, how each ship functions in relation to everything else, and that's just scratching the surface. Plus it would all have to be done within the limitations of Classic's coding. I honestly think even my water mount idea is just way too complex to ever be implemented, and this seems like it would be even more difficult to create. I mean, it has the advantage of only applying to one area, and would sort of work as a side-game (kind of like CTF), so they wouldn't necessarily have to adjust many already-existing mechanics, but still. It almost sounds like a whole different game inside of Classic. However, if there was a way that it could be done within the framework of Classic's current mechanics, maybe it could work. |

I know it would be very long and tedious to script, despite its rather basic nature. However, to say it would be too complex to consider would be slightly pushing it. The basic principles of this are a new type of mounts (ships). They all follow the basic mechanics and then their specific code is altered to give them variation (merchant boat moves at a faster speed, gun boat uses a simple cannon ball attack.) Uh here let me word it in a way that would make the scripting seem less complicated than it would sound (I am in no way saying this would be easy, still). 1) Create ships by using mount properties. Add specific properties that allow ships to traverse into "ship-only" areas like deep sea. 2) Create (presumably from LAT) a vast ocean for ship faring to take place, this would be the deep sea. 3) Create the three different boats available in shop, merchant ship goes faster, gun boat uses a re-skin of the arrow as a cannon ball shot, and brig would use some sort of 3-player mount system, where the two riders can decide when to shoot the cannons on their respective side (this would be the hardest). 4) Set-up a PvP system that works for ship battles. Any additional content would just be added in later over time at convenience, and bugs could be sorted out during initial release stages. Even the things I posted above could be altered to be more simple/versatile with gscript. TLDR: I am not trying to say developing is easy, I am just trying to point out that Graal taking new turns towards gameplay could add much more playability while actually taking rather simple steps with the coding process by reusing current models. |

On the first map that pops up when logging onto graal with a PC you used to be able to access the facebook server. Maybe a separate server could be set up like that one, but this would be more water-oriented with more ocean space? Just an idea.
