Pretty sure youre only required to make one hit on the blob for random prize. It would be more interesting if more blob hits = better quality prize, thus there would be a reason for it to be competitive.

That's how I originally thought it worked. I thought the amount of gralats you got was based on how much damage you did to the blob. Having it work that way would make a lot more sense (although the rare drops should stay completely random as they currently are). This would give players actual incentive to hit the blob more than once.

You can, in fact, because you can just hit the giant blob once and avoid killing anyone. But like I said before, the fact that you're forced to go about it this way if you want to keep your AP is kind of ridiculous. What if everyone did this? The blob would never be killed.

Wow, what a persuasive argument.

As an aside, just because people use the giant blob spawn to boost PKs, doesn't mean it's the purpose of the event. The purpose is for a large group of people to take down the baddy, and reap the rewards. There's nothing wrong with people using the occasion to gain PKs, but those of us who aren't shouldn't lose their AP. Anyway you look at it, it's flawed. I suggested disabling AP for the duration of the blob spawn as a "band-aid" fix of sorts. Though I think the AP system itself needs an overhaul.

It used too. That's how I got the first wave of items in like 3-5 days. Now you have to be identified to get spoils which prevents transfers. I regret telling them my secret now :""""(

Ok, I'll admit it's not the.. best argument, BUT, you are forgetting one very important thing... Uhm, the giant blob, it's... Well what about- hmm. Ok, so I think the AP system itself has some inherit flaws. The giant blob exposes one of those flaws. I take back what I said about disabling AP for the duration of the blob. That would never work. Instead I think the AP system itself needs a few tweaks. I'll admit I haven't thought of any offhand, but I think the <40 AP no healing penalty needs to be looked at, and the way AP functions in terms of non-pk events in pk areas needs to be looked at as well. The point is, I agree with the OP. I'll leave it there.

(FYI, the part you two quoted wasn't my "entire argument", just one small observation)  

I think the fact that most noob players don't understand how AP works in the first place (or care enough to bother with it) contributes to the violence...

Glad to see that there has been such a divergence of opinion on this topic, honestly, among community members. I think that, alone, shows the need of attention in the area of AP.
Maybe AP related prizes for something? Or a couple mini games that you can only play if your AP is high and/or low? (BC Crane game, im lookin at you!)

A little off topic, but my complaint is why does my AP drop while sparring? It's sparring, not PKing, and it happens randomly.

No matter where you go, your ap is 100. if you were sparring with 100 ap, you'd get a free hit for one spar and make it a unfair chance at winning so they disable 100 ap in spars to make it fair

people who don't have 100 ap are powered by the wanting of the blob spoils fast so they can get it done faster. you could do something easy like sit while someone does your job and you end up waiting hours. OR you can do it yourself and get it done faster.

That's not the problem with me, I get if it temporary sets your AP to something else, but regardless, I will LOSE AP permanently by beating people in spar sometimes. Is that a glitch?

i think that happens when you don't have 99 ap so i just stay out of spar while gaining ap.  

You don't actually get a "free" hit if you enter spar with 100 AP.
Unlike towering, where you can run around in the midst of the people fighting for the tower without getting hit (they usually don't have bombs or arrows ).

Yeah. I believe it was looked at before and "fixed", but I have been losing points after random spars ever since anyway. I don't think much of it, as I rarely leave the battle arena anyway. And it has nothing to do with people in spar with 100 AP, that has long since been corrected iirc.
