I'd say for every 50 hours and 100 hours.
This is a very good idea!
You should also keep track of the people who spend the most time helping the guild, and those are the people that get the hat.
I have been cheated out of many hats, even though I have spent more time in guilds than others but not speak. This would be a good way to reward your players, getting what you deserved.  

Having them spawn a gralat directly in to your farm makes close to no sense, sorry.
