reaction vids are pretending, i wouldn't be surprised if it's some what scripted to say this line. most of the reaction videos suck and awkward. i would watch unboxing vids over those sucky fake greedy reaction bs. |

I don't mind that they wanted to protect their channel name and brand, but i think that this is pushing the Boundaries of what I can call "protection". Their isn't really much information on what constitutes their "format" either. Plus trademarking the word "react" in video names is far too overreaching in my opinion. I don't know if they deserve this much hate, but I can say that hopefully it serves as a lesson to other content creators on the Do's and Dont's of IP law.

I'm just relaying information I have read from reddit, but here's some interesting stuff: Apparently Ellen did a segment on her show where she shows kids a bunch of old technology(old cellphones, typewriters, tape recorders and so on). They apparently aren't too happy with that and have called her out on twitter and asked their fans to spam the video with their youtube channel: ![]() ![]() Not cool. Also, they have shut down videos of reactions that were uploaded before they even existed. For example this video that was uploaded in 2012, a year before their channel existed. http://web.archive.org/web/201204062...8&gl=US&hl=en# |

Unbelievable...and I really liked their videos... Reaction videos have existed probably since the freaking video camera was made. They can't copyright "react" and sue anyone that makes a reaction video. wtf?? That's like Yogcast saying no one can ever record themselves playing minecraft or gary's mod because "they did it first" (which they didn't, and neither did fine brothers do reaction videos first..) They're treating this as if it was their idea and they were first and anyone that ever makes a reaction video "stole" the idea from them. Like I said...unbelievable.. |

Never liked the channel. "reaction" videos are about as cancerous as BuzzFeed. Anyway, the whole issue is dumb. Just because you are the most popular creator of a certain style of a medium, doesnt mean you have trademark rights to it. And you cant have trademark rights to something that is so incredibly broad and vague. |

Again, I understand protecting your brand, but this isn't protection anymore. This is stifling other channels for self benefit. |

They deserve all the hate, you cant trademark "Reaction videos" or even something more specialized like "Kid reaction or senior reaction" videos, these have existed for years before them.

I don't get it so what happened? To me it seems like they're just explaining that they won't sue you for making a react video, or is it the opposite?
