I'm going to have to disagree. I've had three jailbroken devices (2 iPod 2G, 1 iPhone 3GS) over the span of - what? - 4 to 5 years? They haven't encountered any major problems at all. The worst problem I've had is probably a reboot loop on my 2G, and it was fixed within 30 minutes with no data lost.

The iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and New iPad all support AirPlay Mirroring. This is potentially a way to set up a video feed that could be captured without jailbreaking. However you need an AirPlay receiver and recording equipment to do that. Example setup: iPhone 4S => Wirelessly connected to Apple TV 2 => Video out connected to a computer with a TV/video-in tuner |

While a built-in video recording feature would be good for Graal, it would be too much of a burden on the processor for the app to both run the game and record the video feed at the same time, so any recording tools would have to be separate or hardware-based. Here are three ways I know of to record video from iOS devices: 1. AirPlay Mirroring [hardware] [best quality] Using an iPhone 4S, iPad 2, or the new iPad, enable AirPlay Mirroring and connect your AirPlay receiver (usually an Apple TV 2G+) to a video recording tool such as DVD recorder or computer with AV tuner. 2. Wired video output [jailbreak] [hardware] A jailbroken device can have TVOut2 Tuner installed and be connected to a video recording device that supports composite AV input. You need to purchase an iOS AV cable for this. Note that picture quality may suffer a little and video recording can hiccough a bit but framerate is good. 3. On-board recording [jailbreak] [software] Purchase DisplayRecorder (3rd generation or above iPod touch or iPhone, works on all iPads), and it allows you to record your screen directly on the device and save it to your Camera Roll. Note that this does not support audio recording, but gives excellent picture quality at the cost of framerate. All three methods will get you a recording of your screen, but either you need to purchase extra hardware, or the recording quality will be negatively affected. Note that methods 1 and 2 can also be used to mirror your screen live onto other displays such as a TV or a computer monitor that supports AV input. The big difference between the first two methods and the last is the fact that the first two simply push the video feed out to another device to record. The video rendering isn't actually done on the iDevice itself, hence this can reduce processor burden and give better framerates. The last method, although most convenient, will cause a lot of "lag" because the video is recorded and saved in real-time on the device at the same time as the game's many processes (connecting with the server, syncing position data, rendering the graphics, playing the sounds, rendering the animations etc), hence everything adds up to a sluggish processor with choppy video. And I use "lag" in inverted commas because lag (latency) refers to the game locking up due to connection speed issues with the server. Slow gameplay due to heavy processor usage is different to latency. In the style of the great Steve Jobs: One more thing... The PC client for Graal already supports gameplay video recording.
