It's because my brother plays smite a lot and a lot of devices are connected at once, but still!

Wow and I thought my DSL was bad. My house has 1 router that distributes wifi to 2 Xbox's, 3 laptops, 4 smartphones, 2 iPods, and my iPad at any given time. I don't get any lag on Xbox but things like downloads are obviously much slower, youtube buffers a little slower, and I can barely hold skype video chats. Also enabling QoS on your router can definitely help no matter what kind of internet you have.

it sucks.

You sure it's not your router? Connect directly to your modem and see if that helps.

It won't read it. When I connect, it acts like I'm still on the WiFi connection.

What equipment (get model name/number, if you can) does Comcast provide? Do you have your own router that connects to the Comcast equipment?

I run into a lot of cases where people have their own router, and a box provided by their ISP that also acts as router instead of just passing the connection through to the router.  

I'm going to try to make my Internet faster. I'm at my dads house now so when I get back I'll crack on it. It's 1.5 MB/S here at least...

Those are your devices, I'm talking about networking hardware like modems and routers, typically provided by Comcast/ISPs them-self.

I use a D-link router that didn't come with the package..

This is the type of internet I deal with on a daily basis, and there's nothing I can do to fix it. I can't switch ISPs, there's no lines to fix.

You, on the otherhand, are most certainly dealing with a damaged line of SOME sort. Or if it's not that, then a TON of people torrenting off your wifi or something.

Call Comcast and they'll most certainly(even if they put up a bit of a fight) fix the issue eventually.

Because we're stupid enough to listen to their marketing techniques. It's like people with Beats.

Listen to what? There's no other options. Internet is a part of life so you can't just strike, and if you did you'd never convince enough people to do so to actually make them give a ****. There's nothing we, the consumer can ever do. It's up to competing services to offer better speeds at better rates, but that's ****ing hard as hell to do in the US when the very providers who you're trying to compete against own the lines you need to use to provide service.

Hopefully Google's new Fiber service will become successful enough so that even if it fails in the long-run, it gains enough attention to have your average American know they can get much better at a much cheaper rate.
