And another bump. My parents agreed to let me build my own, so I'm going to be looking at components online. So far all I've had in mind is a Rade |

4570 is a bit old of a gpu, it lacks dx11 support. I'd recommend a 6750 as it is really cheap and should handle most games at high settings. Anything above that is really only needed if you're one of those obsessed people trying to max out games at 120 fps with 3 monitors. You can get the Radeon hd 4850 for $60 or less if you're really low on money, it should run any game you try(but with maybe a little alag and not max settings. |

Looks like my previous post was cut off. Yeah, I'm locked in on the 6750, but I also need help picking out a motherboard at around $260.

lmao, this is so stupid. So, I bought all of my components and built them, and after difficult hours of troubleshooting (just to discover my RAM wasn't in correctly), I've gotten into the BIOS and the Windows 7 installation is underway. But... I didn't have a CD drive to boot my W7 from. My external USB drive wasn't recognized by the motherboard. My stupid solution? Use the CD drive from my old computer. Another problem. I couldn't release it from the other computer. So... Here's what I did. Spoiler
So yes, the computers are stuck with the SATA connectors adjoining them like an umbilical cord until Windows 7 is done installing. Fun, idint it? |

You can download w7 setup and put it on a flash drive and install it from that.

The BIOS on my new machine doesn't support booting from a USB for some reason. It's already installed, but the computers remain like this while I install drivers and such.

I can't think of any reason why any BIOS made in the last 8 or so years wouldn't allow you to boot from USB. Make sure you go into your BIOS settings and put boot from USB priority above the HDD.

It isn't detecting the USB device when I tried; I have an external CD/DVD drive that I popped the W7 disk into. The device isn't showing up in the boot order.

Boot order's aren't specific. Also an external CD drive isn't the same as a flash drive.
