I used to play a lot of support annie, her ability to throw out multiple 1.75 second aoe stuns in a teamfight is really strong. I don't know why people call it a troll pick, you don't need farm to be very useful in teamfights, and it's really powerful in lane since you can harass with your 625 range and have tons of burst for early fighting potential in addition to a stun.

1: synergizes with the adc well in lane There's many ways that you can be good in lane. healing the adc/shielding them, poking away at the enemies, getting your adc fed(agressive supports like leona/blitz). Pretty much anything that will help your ad carry get more cs than the enemy or kills, and bring them ahead. 2:useful in late game with minimal farm You can't have someone like katarina as a support, because she will do little to nothing late game without her farm. You need people with utility like stuns, thresh's lantern/pull, and all kinds of stuff. Even without lots of damage items or tankiness, these characters will still provide a huge influence in a teamfight. Support annie fulfills this role because she has good laning with her burst damage and stuns allowing the adc to get fed, and can poke with her very high range. She transitions into late game well with low farm because she has the ability to stun multiple targets multiple times within a teamfight, so she influences them a lot. |

People copy the pros blue Ezreal build thinking that it's always good because pros build it, and they end up feeding because they either: A: Think it allows them to fight well so they try to duel people head on and don't take advantage of mystic shot spam B ick it in a comp that it does not go well with like a hard engage comp.

I cannot think of any ADC (not taking supports into consideration) that Vayne can beat in lane, except maybe Ashe. But then again, even Ashe can force her back and zone her hard. Ezreal is probably Vayne's easiest lane, if she maxes Q and dodges his skillshots with it. But that's only in 1v1 trades which almost never happen due to his poke and strong disengage. More of a skill matchup.
