Obiviously a joke but apples logo came from a tribute to a guy called Alan Turing the man who created the enigma machine.

He was homosexual (apple used multi coloured logo in the 90s) and killed himself with an apple dipped in cyanide (the apple and the bite taken out of it)

Both untrue. He worked on an apple orchard and that is where the name comes from. With regards to Alan Turing when he was asked if that was the reason for the name and logo he replied "no but I wish that was the reason" or something along those lines.
