So you are telling me, theoretically, that a signature in a forum, or perhaps when people create spongebob or mario on the call of duty emblems, that they are putting the game/forum owners at risk to be sued because some player created a graphic that resembled their stuff?

Content that is not curated and purely user-generated is usually covered by safe harbor provisions in copyright law (such as the DMCA). If a company stated that their copyrighted material was being used as a forum signature (and it was the truth), then the company would be required to remove that image from their site.

The whole "Graal receives all rights after uploading heads" could be the culprit right? If so, that is a stupid term of agreement and should be erased. There is no reason for me to give up all rights to a head when uploading to Graal. Graal really does not have much to gain from this. Are they planning on stealing all of our graphics one day to create a whole new game that the entire graal community pixel art'd for them

A lot of the houses you see on the overworld from those places are actually player-submiited houses (and there are a lot more of them than what's on the current map). What's with the all rights portion is a legal strategy called CYA. Developers have reused player-submitted content before. They've been threatened with lawsuits from players before.

For the content that I've created that's still available on Graal, I'm more flattered than anything else that it has been reused.

Submitting houses and overworld graphics is a different story.

I am talking about shields, bodies, heads, and swords. They are a big part of the "gameplay" in classic, the fact that Unix/Stefan demands that all the rights go to graal after you upload is absurd. It just caused legal issues, if players don't want graal taking their work it would be a noble thing to respect that and not demand it out of them

1. You're implying copyrights, hats, and no pure black/white are the only custom rules.
2. How the hell am I supposed to know whats wrong with it if I have no idea what the head looks like. For all I know you could've drawn a **** on it.

I've checked and I don't see why they get refused and then 1 hour later when it's another admin, it gets accepted.

No, thats proof that one of those staff members needs to get their **** together. More likely the second one since in a few months it'll probably get refunded.

you fail to see peoples point. people just want the real reason why their stuff got denied/refunded when it doesnt break any of the "reasons" posted above. Thats not too much to ask.

Uploads are always given a reason when denied. "people" just need to read the reason and it should be obvious why it isn't allowed.

I think I'll explain what each of these means.

1. Transparency Problems: There is a visible background
There is a visible background whether you think so or not.
2. Transparency problems: Make sure to not use solid black(#000000) or white)
If you are using solid white/black it'll appear invisible in game, doesn't matter how little there is, it should be rejected if there is any.
3. Inappropriate content
If it resembles something inappropriate it'll be denied. Staff will usually be really strict with this because of some of the messed up crap players see/think up.
4. Copyright Infringement. Do not resubmit
It is fanart/resembles something that is the property of another person/organization. Obviously staff haven't seen every anime/tv show/video game so some stuff will get by and be deleted if its caught by another staff later, but that is your fault because you were the one to upload it when it broke the rule.
5. Incorrect size/dimensions
I've never seen an upload that breaks this rule since the upload site will auto-reject images with the wrong size, so i'm not sure why this is still one of the reasons for rejection
6. No images acting as hats or full-face masks
As stated above, glasses and bandanas arent considered hats.
7. No bodies as shields
Kinda self explanatory
8. Do not resubmit this image
This does not mean that you have already submitted it, it means that it shouldn't be submitted again because it breaks multiple rules, OR (Zone, not sure if classic will do this) for a misc reason that is not listed
9. Submitted multiple times
You've already submitted it, and may be spamming uploads, it'll be accepted when a staff sees it
10. Too big
There should be a "too small" rule as well
11. No rapidly flashing animations or changing colors
All gifs that aren't blinking eyes or something of that sort will be denied.
12. The frames are in the wrong positions
Off centered, usually causes floaty pixels in another frame
13. Bodies must have two working legs
Bodies also have to have humanoid posture, meaning standing vertically with 2 arms and legs.

Classic was the reason I stopped making graphics or rather bodies in general. I would spend hours on them, upload, and then they would be rejected. Or an even worse example is I would have the body for several months and then it would suddenly be refunded by a staff member. If it was even a little close to copyright it would be rejected. I don't think it was the system that found something wrong with your body, but a staff member themselves. Unless that has changed over the course of time. I would give it up on the body. If you managed to upload it some other staff might just snatch it from your inventory and only refund half of what you paid for it.

There is something definitely wrong with the second picture you posted. See that little "Check Transparency" box? There's no way it would be able to set the transparency on that second image. The background is not one smooth color like the first. Go ahead and try to fill the background with the paint bucket and you'll see what I mean.

P.S. I hope you're not stealing that body and that the artist actually gave approval to upload it.

i learned that the hard way-^ when i uploaded noob heads it had transparency rpoblems and didnt even know how to solve it.  

Ohmaigad I leave this thread alone for a few days and then boom 3 pages.  

i think its a safe bet to say that many people have had issues with uploads and refunds. Thats why it has 3 pages.

Read the parentheses, Im not even sure classic will do something like that since their staff team is much stricter and more professional than Zone's. And if they do its like a 49/50 thing where the GPA says that the body shouldn't be allowed. But in any case "do not resubmit" is a pretty self-explanatory statement, not sure why so many people have trouble with it. It really just means, to a player at least "Don't resubmit this". As in don't resubmit it again, or change the transparency option and resubmit it, it means dont resubmit it.

Im telling you they do from personal experience. Many noobs that upload have rejected stuff for personal reasons. There was an addition to the classic upload rules because of me(the one that states your uploading privileges can be taken away) just because I kept re-submitting my body. It was a default body that had a sword in the back and it was rejected by an admin that disliked me(in 2010-11 all them ass kissers hated me), it didn't break any rules just the up-loader being butthurt for whatever reason. I just wanted a reason why, so I could fix it.

no it's not thats why the whole discussion is here. That might seem like self-explinatory from an up-loader's perspective, but not for the players.

classic has a history of hiring nubs, so maybe they shouldn't be allowed to determine stuff.

NOT self-explanatory. This is what creates all the issues because it gives up-loaders a reason to decline stuff based on their personal feelings. They should make these (circumstances) clearer or disallowed them completely.

So why don't you suggest something instead of just complaining about the current system.

Why are you even here? You are rooting for the wrong side, you literally are supporting the staff members that are ruining the system.

Maybe they should have to type out a response to the graphic? We, the players, spend hours on certain graphics just to have a staff member click a reason from a drop down menu, barley observing the graphic, and move on.

They are staff, writing out a simple explanation that actually MAKES SENSE is not too much to ask for. If they think that is too much work, and they prefer just click a random reason from a drop-down menu, then they probably just applied for the position for staff powers and bragging rights.

I'm sorry, why don't we hire you to deal with the crap players come up with, then type a bunch of essays on why uploads can't be allowed, only to have most of those resubmitted/have some asshat who still doesnt understand why their rainbow head was denied come crying to you then get pissed when you dont respond to their garbage. Or maybe since you are so capable of understanding what makes a good staff member, you should be in charge of going around a community of 12 year olds who don't have the slightest idea what the term "responsibility" means and picking out people who are good for the job. Because you really make it seem easy, and I'm assuming to top it off you don't have any better things to do besides "work" on Graal, no school work, no job, no family or friends, no hobbies? Because that'd be real great as I'm sure if you had any of those things it would be very difficult for you to devote all your time to Graal.

The drop down menu is just fine, the fact 90% of the playerbase doesn't have a functioning brain that is capable of comprehending what it "reads" is the problem.

And no I'm not supporting the wrong side, hell I'm not supporting anyone, if the staff team actually is so disabled that they can't do uploads (which no one seems to have provided me any evidence of?) then they should be fired or smacked on the head by their Administrator. But I'm definitely not supporting the hoard of idiots that spam uploads, cry to staff because their heads aren't being approved that they "worked so harddd on" (It really only takes like an hour to make a half-decent head anyway)., or those who feel so compelled to whine on the forums about how their crap isn't being approved but don't even feel like showing what exactly it was that wasn't approved, or what the reason was.

Classic can get a backlog of over 100 uploads(that's just game graphics, not guild logos) in just a few hours. No one has enough time to go through and write an explanation for every single upload, especially at the rate players demand their uploads be reviewed.
