If there was such thing as a delay checker/lag spikes mid game 1/2 of the top sparring guilds would be kicked out.

I don't understand how some people seem to think they know about spar guilds or sparrers when they're never seen in the arena. Must be a true skill to be able to see into something you aren't a part of like that. Either that or hop on the excuse bandwagon with everyone else that gets destroyed in a spar and immediately looks for something to blame. What's worse is how these same idiots think laggers are some invincible supervillains who can never be hit and therefore are cheating. Many of the top sparrers in the game aren't laggy at all, and they beat laggy players quite often. How? Because they learn to actually spar and not quit when you lose then resort to making excuses amidst your tears. These people don't even understand that if someone is lagging, you lag to them. It's not even hard to understand. Speed hacking gives legitimate advantage and should have action taken against it, but don't give these grown babies what they want just because they cry enough for it. |

So you're saying its ok to have a GP with little game knowledge banning/warning people for something they have no idea of. E.g; Thallen is towering with (MDR) at destiny tower he uses his blink perfectly staying alive 5 seconds longer then you normally would allowing his guild mates to make it back towards where he is (a door of some kind). Along comes our new GP who has no idea how graal's mechanics work, sees thallen managing to hold 4-5 people at a door by himself immediately thinks thallen is lag blocking and bans him for 300 hours thinking he's done the right thing. Now lets say we are in the Arena and our good friend Fulgore is streaking, his streak is incredibly high with a win count of 47! A player using the cheat engine changes his speed and joins the que. There are 2 outcomes:

Should add that a potential alternate solution would be to rate speed and lag of individual players in spar, but the transparency of disparity there would likely lead to even more cries of foul play. I can also add that I'm not that great of a sparrer, but I generally have more success sparring someone after fighting them multiple times. Anti-speedhacking measures need to be enforced by some means. The technology exists to at least identify them to some extent, and if it's obvious it should result in a ban. General delay hacking shouldn't result in bans. Some people have no other options aside from a slow connection (including the use of VPNs). There are likely other manners of delay hacking that are more malicious, but not as simple. In the case that players have a high rate of delay, it should either be transparent or they should be segregated from spars with players of lower delay. |

Speed=problem Delay=not a problem to anyone who actually cares to win a spar and is decent, regardless of whether it's intentional or not. I know of people who vpn to lag, I still spar them, don't care, still win. It is not hard. "Oh, they have more experience with lagging so it's an advantage." Well ****, ban Thallen/Sarah/Shan/most of old PC players from sparring cause he's sparred a lot more than all of us so he has more experience. Jesus Christ, come on.

Didn't read 95% of the thread but I can guess based on context clues that people are just complaining about losing to people who delay/speed/lag/whatever. Here's the best piece of information I can give you: I used to be a very sub-par sparrer on PC and would constantly blame connection/delay/UDP for my losses. The second I stopped whining and started figuring out ways around it (which is really not that hard), I became good enough to join US, Enguard, Alumni etc. So I'm not gonna even knock anyone for complaining about it, because I was basically that same person in 2004... But once I stopped talking so much and started learning mechanics/techniques, I became much better. |

I never said that. I said that they can use a more consistent strategy knowing full well that their latency is going to be the main factor of the spar. Someone with low latency is going to have to determine whether that person lags and how much. Another alternative to segregation might be to display the latency to each person in the spar so there's something to help the lower latency players in evaluating their strategy during the fight. |
