The reason we aren't using applications anymore isn't because it's not fun, I assure you it it's a blast (/sarcasm), but because any one can lie on the applications and turn out to be a horrible staff member (as seen with a select few from the last batch of app hirings).

I'd assume the Era staff that are already here on the forums could recognize us members and recommend us from there. I also agree, I think applications was a much more fair and efficient way of hiring the PRs. Without applications, recommendations tend to be biased based on players the recommenders already know personally. Applications introduce new people to the scene, allow the employers to have a sample of the community as a whole as opposed to the connections he/she personally made; and there's always hidden talent out there.

But people lie...

Look guys, the administrative team isn't for everyone.  

There's no real perfect method. Just go with whatever the admins choose how to hire.

The reason the general public wants to be a PR is because they think it's all fun and games giving yourself lightsabers and MetalStorms to run around with and impress your friends. There are a couple normal people out there, though. One thing I learned through life is that humans are wired to want to help people, and feel good when they help someone and receive a thank you. Those are the ones that make the best Player Relations staff; the ones that genuinely want to help players in need and contribute to the community in a selfless way. I respect those people, and those are the ones that deserve it above all else. I strive to be like them. Maybe I will, some day.

Lol this is absolutely not true, humans are wired for hormonal activity. I think no human would do a job without thinking for a millisecond if they will get a reward for their action. And that is a human.

And I, for one, can admit that I only wanted to be admin last year because of the 300 gealats you get each month

I agree totally with is except for the "not fun" part. The PRAS are there to look after the staff team, if that means doing something "not fun" then so be it, it's their job after all.

I agree with your post, however I don't think we're wired like that, but I'm just picky.

The way I see it, there is no real reward for being PR. Getting 300 gralats a month? What are you going to spend it on, you already have everything.
Got a light saber? Kool but you can't use it for Pking. Nice gold souizen, but you can't use it for Pking or sparring.

The way I see it, the only real award is the buzz you get after helping new players, giving players ec after winning events and having a awesome reputation when you resign.

And getting a awesome gopher <3

you get paid gelats not gralats, they're different. You can use gelats to buy pc gold or other things for pc servers.  

I always liked that Era had applications open to the public. But now, it's the complete other end of the spectrum. I'm surprised that you guys did this knowing how widely this method was criticized when it was used with people like NYN on Classic iPhone. Even they ended up opening applications, so while they took a step in the right direction, you guys are going back to the beginning.  

i don't think some players know that some of the best PRs are 13 or so

I'm not talking about monotonous tasks like jobs, if that's what you think I'm referring to. My signature also applies to this, if you mean helping others online. But, if someone is going to PM you, "Where would I find Panther International?", are you going to tell me you're going to charge the guy 5 shells for an answer? Doubt it; you're more likely to give him the answer and feel good when he replies "Thank you, it means a lot." If you're not like that, you're not cut out to be hired.

Agreed, Classic's application hiring staff was mainly taken out by one person; Julius. He hired a couple good staff members that turned out pretty well out of those applications; who no one knew about previously. It does open up another horizon of players as candidates to be the next staff member, as opposed to the usual Zanza or Magic members that were always being hired.

people on start begging for you to ask them a question so they can awnser it isnt really true either. thats not how they always act.  

Just trust the prs/admins they know what there doing and just deal with it its probebly more efficent and easier for the prs/admins
