It was just announced that OUYA will receive annual installments: Each year it will be re released with a more powerful processor. Say, 2014 will see the OUYA 2, 2015 will see the OUYA 3, etc. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of having a stable environment for developers? I mean wasn't that the whole idea: An android market, on a TV, where everyone has the same powered device? Sure the operating system is the same, but I'm not sure this is going to help independent developers at all. Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/...ole-every-year |

To me it seems that it's a cheap designed console which only uses android/apple apps doesn't look like it will get anywhere like the consoles already out.

It's entirely up to developers test their apps on older hardware, optimize, and make sure it works properly. As long as they do that there shouldn't be an issue with having an "older" OUYA. Their upgrade strategy is entirely dependent on the success of the platform though which remains to be seen. |
