Stating it's true over and over doesn't make it any more true. Your interpretation of piracy is way off-base, and your generalization of how SOPA is going to effect the internet is insulting to say the least, because it goes beyond facebook, piracy and "having fun." SOPA is just the tip of the iceberg of what's really wrong with the government.

There's a bunch of things wrong with the government way worse then this.  

Name five legislation currently open that are worse, in your opinion, than SOPA.

It's not "the government" at fault, it's the people who let such trash politicians get voted into power in the first place.

Your implying there's such a thing as a good politician.

As long as big companies can use lobbyists and super pacs then the politicians will listen to them.

How many people will remember what there senator voted for, in fact most people are too lazy to find out what their senator voted for, it's not like the senators have sites with big bold text saying they voted in favor of sopa.

Plus, even if you vote for someone else, not many people care enough to see what the person will vote for, if it's even possible to find that information.

This is why SOPA discussions shouldn't have been brought onto a site frequented mostly by people under 18. They will do whatever they are told to do in politics, and only receive the information showed by to them by other people because they don't care enough to research on their own.

I understand that there needs to be awareness but I do not believe children should be involved.

People under the age of 18 can have political views as well. Most people on this forum are old enough to discern right from wrong and form their own opinions. This isn't a Club Penguin forum.

Very true. Actually you can have them in the age if about 14-15+ while younger kids mostly just listen to stuff and agree with that instead of researching that.

I didn't mean it quite how I said it, but, yes, you're right.  

Of course there are going to be pirates out there who pirate movies and aid others in doing so, it's just a fact of the internet.

So the government can just shut down this website? Nope. That violates the owner's rights.

In my honest opinion, the site should have more ways of stopping pirates. A new legislation should be passed requiring them to have a data base of copyrighted movies, etc. that can detect similar ones. (This would have to have pitch, tone, speed, and other detections to actually work, of course.) To just shut down the site, however, is completely inappropriate and goes against people's rights in America.

Popular Sovereignty. A government's power comes from it's people.

So basically there's many more things wrong with the population of America than this, and it is going to take excellent, skilled people to fix these problems.
