Some people think it may increase your risk of mental illness, but there is no study that directly relates schizophrenia with marijuana.

Alcohol is as much à gateway drug as cannabis. The reason it's more probable that a weed smoker tries something else is because you have to deal with drugdealers that want to sell the stuff that gives them more profit.

I smoke, but I've never felt the urge to try anything else.

all you guys who think "its a plant must be safe!" heroin is actually from a plant (poppy plant) and look what that does to you! i am against controlled substance use, just look what it does to society. did you know that every 47 minutes, someone is killed or critically injured because of a drunk driver? if we legalize marijuana, secondhand smoke will be an issue? what gives someone the right to pollute our air and give kids the idea that smoking things is fine? I have never smoked or taken any substance, and i never will. legalizing drugs will only lead to trouble.

Are you seriously comparing heroin and marijuana? Like really?

The problem with this entire issue isn't the drug itself, it's the ******s who consume and then operate heavy machinery. I like how you bring kids and pollution into this as if you give half a ****. The pollution side of it is negligible and second-hand smoke in general is a nuisance, it won't increase or decrease legal or illegal.

If you've ever consumed a Caffeine based beverage (Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Coffee) then you've already taken a substance. If you've ever consumed a medical drug then you've already taken a substance. gg

Okay, weed isn't a bad thing, just don't use too much. In the end everything is poisonous, and one pure joint a day (this is scientifically proven!) is better for you than if you don't smoke it at all.

It's (almost) not addictive, and there are (atleast in my country, and I live in amsterdam) no deaths caused by weed /year.

Also, all the scary stories you hear about how everything will be bad if weed is made legal are all untrue; it's legal in amsterdam, and I love my city. It's safe, and simply nice, and even if it wasn't weed wouldn't be the cause.

So, I figured that since Colarado has become the first state to legalize recreational use of marijuana, I might as well bump this so we can debate again.

Amendement 64 in Colorado drafted to regulate use of marijuana recreationally passed with a 52.7% popular vote. Which side are you taking?

Its interesting, i guess time will tell if weed will be cause of some car accidents (driving too slow on the highway?). But honestly, cigarettes are way more harmful than this.
Also the government will probably put a huge tax on this so they will get a good amount of money coming in.

But its interesting how the next two years will turn out. I'm thinking nothing will change.

and if they legalize it they should be a age for it and where you can smoke it since i wouldn't want my kids to be smelling it or near it. Can kill brain cells well slow them down. People can be addicted to it tho.
I tried it didn't really like it. It does have different effects on different people.

i tried it once , then i got addicted to it , but like the guy said , everything is a poison if u exagerate the use of it.its good but dont take one everyday because after 5 year of smoking a joint everyday ,your brain will be dead
