How do I make a custom status background?

I've created an image I'd like to use as my status background.. I've tried to upload it to Google drive and use the link as my gang picture but then it says it needs to be a jpeg. I converted the image to jpeg but it still won't work.

Can't you just export your picture to your device through email or something

You can Upload it as your gang picture and then use it
