A Conquerable Town
Yesterday, I had an interesting idea. Something to make towering a little more interesting. This idea was to have a town that could be taken like a tower. The way this would work: The town would be designed like a normal one, with a decent number of buildings. 4-5 of these would house flags, each with 50 HP, so that each tower wouldn't have a crapload of HP. Each building with a flag inside would be marked with a flag on top. The presence of multiple flag rooms would make guilds unable to simply noob rush the place unless they somehow manage to come up with like 37 people. I bet you're wondering: "Psycher, how would the guild ownership work?" Well, to keep this simple, we'll assume the town has 4 flags. To keep things competitive, owning one flag would give a guild 1/4 of the normal amount of time, owning two would give 1/2 of the normal amount of time, owning 3 would give 3/4 of the normal amount of time, and having all four would give the full amount of time. Tyler came up with the ownership thing. My original idea was that you had to capture all of the flags first, then maintain at least half of them to keep ownership of the tower. That came with the problem of "what if multiple guilds owned multiple flags?", so it had to be changed. The respawn point for attackers would have to be in the center of the town to keep all areas at a reasonable distance, and defenders would respawn somewhere inside the building they died in. Defender respawn points would be more of a level design choice though. This is a crappy sketch illustrating what the town could look like. Maybe. Remember, it's a crappy sketch. Thoughts?

I like. A conquerable town may get me to take some towers. iEra incorporates a similar concept with places as towers (or gang hideouts), but this takes it to the next level. The town could have non-flag places too where NPCs are located talking about the different towers. For example, a bar joint could have NPCs saying "Did you hear? (Insert Guild Name Here) currently has the armory." I think this would be a neat concept to try out. If it doesn't work out the worst case scenario would be limiting the amount of towers or just removing it completely.

Haha the "crappy sketch" wasnt necessary we get the point. sounds good but im not sure about the ownership system of cutting guild hours in quarters.

id rather there just be multiple levels of towers. like level 1 tower level 2 tower level 3 tower. level one towers should be able to be taken with like 4-6 people level 3 towers should take like 15. |

That would be really cool. Could work for something like Snowtown or Bell even since they're completely useless.

Great concept.. I think it would really work and be a heck of a lot more fun! One thing I would change though: Keep the town idea.. And make it so they earn GRAALATS (maybe) instead of Hours! There would be one huge room for the fight and instead of taking the flag.. They would have to kill all guild members who own the town.. With the money they accumulate, it could ONLY BE spent on reinforcing the tower with walls (can be taken down with many sword hits) or guards (like good baddies) there could be a lot of lag though..HOW DOES THIS SOUND?!

I think they'd have to be like specific command posts though. The outside town will all be PVP but there would have to be some Non-PVP areas to keep it a town. Like a shop, bar, or whatever. If it was one big room it'd be too much like a normal tower. Hell, if it was like that it would be a normal tower. And if you killed all guild members in order to conquer it would be King of The Hill. I like the "Good" baddy idea. They would probably be against the people who own the fort though but helping people attacking like "rebels" wanting to overthrow them. Yet there would also have to be some elements so it could function like a normal town as well. Like Onnet maybe.

Yaya.. BUT! The guild should be able to change the town, upgrade forts, and rule... Yes.. I know this sounds like 1player.. BUT IF THE ADMINS COULD DO THIS on.. Idk.. Maybe another game.. They would surely be rolling in the dollars.. xD

Yeah the problem is what if like some super rich guild came in, seized the town. Then constantly changed the layout? Unless you mean like texture rather than the actual town. Like a swampy like town, aqua-Zorbi, snowy town, deadwood town, etc. Also if it were for barricades too someone could just spam upgrades and deck out the fort every time it's weakened that way no one could get in or whatever the case may be. Another thing, the town should be named after the guild holding it. Say for example PULSE takes it (I know they're a dead guild I just needed an unbiased example) it would be called PULSE town. Or for some reason V.G. comes back "Venus Gospel" town. If the fort is split between guilds it would be called No Man's Land. Since, no one has complete authority of course.

EXACTLY!! But: the guilds can't use acutal GRAALATS maybe make a new currency. LIKE TOWER COINS! Every guild starts with 100 and a reinforcement can be from 30 (weakest wall) to 500 (strongest wall) it would like this! And the goodies (good baddies) could be upgraded.
