So, nintendo just released a new Direct broadcast today, it was rather interesting if you could get through Iwata talking! Here's what was announced for Wii U:

Software update drastically increasing loading speeds between apps
Ability to make personal community pages on Miiverse
Wii U Virtual console (Eventually including gamecube games, if you have virtual console games on Wii you can transfer them to Wii U for 99 cents)

They also announced several new games, including a new Mario Kart, 3D mario from the makers of the galaxy series, and a new Legend of Zelda franchise entry. The two mario games will be shown at E3, and a screenshot of Smash Bros will be shown as well. But thats not all! They have made a Wii U remake of Windwaker!



And there is a (basically) new IP coming out: Yarn Yoshi (Title working)



Finally, a brand new JRPG exclusive from Monolith Soft:

 

I don't really care because I am not comfortable with the WiiU.  

I don't have a WiiU but the graphics, judging from those screenies, are crayzey awesum

A little disappointed in what has been shown with the Wind Waker remake. It looks like they added bloom, new lighting and made the textures a bit more high resolution and vibrant... but not at all even close to bringing it to terms to what the WiiU is capable of. I don't even think the model polycount was touched at all from what I've seen. I mean... it looks vibrant and beautiful, but a baby step up from Wind Waker itself.  

I just can't wait to see what smash bros looks like. If its any good, it will probably be what pushes me to get a Wii U.  

The Yoshi game looks great. The graphics in that screenshot are beautiful!

To be fair, people would complain if they changed too much. I think Nintendo is just playing it safe. I hope to see some more textures in the game though.

Not exactly what I meant...
I'd love to see more, I just understand why they would want to play it safe.

Wind Waker is known for it's unique style, and mimicking it with improved graphics would be a hard task. I'm sure people would find something to complain about if they altered it too much.

Pretty sure Nintendo, if anyone, would be able to improve the graphics without losing its charm. If it's because they want to play it safe then that's the problem with them... they're scared to even try improve a 10 year-old game. That doesn't speak well for them.

That's a fair point, and I agree with you. I wish Nintendo the best though. I'm sure the released version will be much different than the current screenshots.  

I'm actually more excited about this than the Windwaker remake.

Umm? Xenoblade sequel? Wonderful 101? Bayonetta 2? Yoshi game? Smash Bros 4 info? Fire Emblem crossover? Pikmin 3?HD Zelda thats supposedly 're imagining' the francise? And these aren't just some Mario bros games. Just because it has the character and the brand doesn't mean its the same. Think of Mario as Nintendo's template for platforming, Zelda as Nintendo's template for Adventure RPGs, Mario Kart as Nintendo's template for party racing, and Metriod as Nintendo's template for a first person shooter. Why rebrand things when you can reinvent and re inspire what you already have? If you can continually do this, its not milking in any sense. If the galaxy games aren't any notice of how Nintendo continually re ignites their own franches, I don't know what is. The only argument I can agree with is that the New Super Mario Bros titles are milked, that is true. The "Main" Super Mario series however, is absolutely not.

Here's to hoping this new 3D mario title does this once again.
