Banning System Currupt?
Hey there, guys! :3 (and girls) So I'm here today to discuss something. I'm not taking any sides, but I invite you to kindly debate to eachother why or why not this viewpoint has any validity. A Graal member (that would like to remain anonymous) thought outside the box and brought this up to me recently, and I thought it was interesting. He/She said, "Why do people get banned for glitching if it's not hacking, and we are not using it for such things to get items for free? If we happen to try to test out if we can go through that wall, why stop us? Banning us for doing something, when actually it is just the fault of the developers for allowing us to do so because of their faulty programming? Once I got banned for quite a time just for using a glitch where I could dance and walk at the same time. For what? I didn't cheat them out of money, or alter files! Have restrictions on playing this game, when it's really their fault? Blastfamy! (Sp, I forget how to spell it lol) so comics, f///huck off about me being a closet glitcher". I see some valid points in this, and I want to see why you guys are against this "person", or for him/her! Comment away, and have fun standing up for the side you agree with! -Comics

I think it's because most of the staff team seems to have some mental issues, or are chilidish. And it doesn't harm the server unless they start to abuse it; I dislike those "ban systems" aswell. But nevertheless, glitching is violating the servers rules, so you have to be punished. I would warn the glitchers but that's a staffs decision, and back to my first statement; you're gonna have a hard time if you're caught glitching.

I don't glitch as well, but I think his/her statement has some truth. But like you said, what's against the rules, is against the rules. But honestly, I'm not sure if the rules should be there. But I don't mind that they are :p And of corse, I promote if it will hurt the server. But otherwise, hmm. Not sure |

What staff should be doing to glitchers like this is kindly ask them how they did it instead of shooting out their arms like Dhalsim to ban them out of reflex...

This is the kind of instead-of-blaming-the-criminal-for-his-actions-blame-his-mother logic that I hate.

This is from what I've heard from both current and previous staff members: They must go by a step-by-step process in order to punish a bannable offense. Sending them to warming room, reset chat, blah blah blah and then after a while they can issue a ban. Unlike before in the past, where staff could go straight to a ban without any prior warning, such a process must be completed before giving out any ban otherwise they might get fired for abuse. Now, for glitching onto a cliff or in a black area I believe isn't considered bannable. I think they're just supposed to drag them off or unstick them until they finally get bored and go away. Problem is, an idiot has more mental endurance than any other being on the planet. Why is that? Because in order to have mental endurance one must have a brain. An idiot, however, lacks one. So they don't know better and will keep coming back because they do not learn from their mistakes because they are usually incapable or not wanting to learn from them. As for being banned for glitching, glitching is considered bug abuse. Which has been a bannable offense for ages. There shouldn't be any surprise for being banned for it if it isn't anything new. If you're reporting a bug, it wouldn't require that much repeated use and to be flaunting it around. That's why whenever I find a bug or something in need of being fixed, I usually just show it to one of them or just feedback it in detail. Otherwise, you really shouldn't be taking advantage of a bug. Even if you've already reported it.

I don't do any glitching like I said, but when I used to (way over a year ago,and I would get banned without any warning for trying to go on cliffs, etc). But Matt, true. It's pretty low to blame others. Thanks everyone for putting in your input!

Chances are if you are abusing a bug it is on purpose, and you know it is wrong. It's like saying I shouldn't get punished for stealing because it wasn't impossible for me to, so it is the person I stole from's fault. EDIT: 4444 posts :o |

It makes the game look unprofessional if everyone is glitching and doing things that weren't intended. It only makes sense that they are trying to prevent people from doing it.

Ex-Staff opinion! I prefer fixing glitches or adding warp points rather than punish players for random glitches. As such, I always maintained the, "unless it gives them an unfair advantage....eh". I personally added a crapton of warp points and other methods to prevent such walljumps. That said, there are other bastards who will continually do it over and over. Worse still, some will then spam every outlet available with, "LOL I R HAXORZ! STAFF ARE **** AND CANT TO DO ANYTHING". It's generally these dicks who know they are in the wrong but will bitch the loudest once the hammer comes down. Yes, it's against the rules but I advise leniency so long as it's not affecting other players. Unless they are dicks. Dicks get no mercy. |
