Server Update

Stefan announced a little while ago that the reason everyone was lagging is because the server is being updated. Glad I'm not the only one lagging. But what could this server update be? I'm thinning they're bringing the grass back, but I could be wrong.

Yeah same I think that the grass is coming back, I think rufus did a screenshot on what to expect.

I hope something else has been included in the update though ^_^

Changing tilesets wouldn't cause that much lags.

There's literally nothing that I can think of that can account for three consecutive hours of high latency like was experienced. "Bringing the grass back" would not exactly cause high latency, and would take 30 seconds (assuming you mean changing tilesets).

The "server" might refer to the actual OS the gserver runs on being updated or the gserver software itself being updated, not the actual in-game content. But I might be wrong.

That's what I'd assume it means, but updating it while the server is live? I can't even imagine what the up/downstream is on the server itself if the game had latency issues for three consecutive hours. In all likelihood, if an update occurred at all, it is something that none of us will be able to see or feel any real effect of, so don't get your hopes up.

Yeah sorry I meant tile sets thallen, I hope the update is something good if its 3 hours of hardly any change I'm gonna be disappointed.

Well the lag stopped and one of my friends told me that the update is done. Not sure if it really is but I hope not. If it is I'm gonna be mad

His use of the word 'update' is not what you're thinking of. I know that and I haven't been on in 3 days.

Betting that had he not fixed the lag you would be mad about that too. Just because he considers fixing lag an update doesn't mean it's not an obtrusive problem that has now been solved.

Stefan "updates" / restarts / does-other-things-that-make-the-server-lag rather often. we dont need to know about it here.
