Career Report
I'm turning in my career report for my honors 8th grade class. Who better to help me proofread than the grammar Nazi's of a forum with the power to criticize anything? Please tell me what grade you would give it, thanks. My topic is about Aerospace Engineering. Here goes: Did you know that the minimum wage for the average American workers is $7.25? Were you aware that most aerospace engineer make up to $59 a hour (U.S. Labor Bureau)? That is over eight times what an average American worker makes when paid minimum wage per hour. With aerospace engineering pushing technology to its limit to make rocket’s faster, more efficient, and safer for the environment, I wish to join this highly competitive field. Not only for its high salary, but for the opportunity of creating something even more spectacular than what already exists, and the use of mathematics daily, I want to become an aerospace engineer. To start off, aerospace engineering, like many branches of engineering, is misunderstood as to what the purpose of the specialized branches truly is. First, engineers must formulate their projects of new spacecraft relatively quickly. The reason for this is that the engineer's design has to be the quickest and most efficient aircraft in the market in order for it to be sold for a high price in a small market (Tahim 1-20-13). There are several companies that hire aerospace engineers which include but not limited to, Boeing, Space X, and NASA (Tahim 1-20-13). The reason why most aerospace engineers work for companies is because making spacecraft is a team effort, and renowned companies such as Boeing, help make it easier to sell the project that the engineers work on (Tahim 1-20-13). Teamwork and advanced computer skills are vital things needed to become an aerospace engineer. Teamwork is essential to create the bigger projects and to make the shuttles more efficient. Also, it is necessary to use technology such as RF equipment which includes RF analyzers and RF spectrums to help design spacecraft and get the initial blueprints approved to further work on a time consuming project (Tahim 1-20-13). To do this work, one must always be dressed professionally, as in, with a suit and tie. The requirements for becoming an aerospace engineer is a bachelor’s degree, which is typically, acquired after 4 years in a highly credited university, in a major that focuses on science and math, such as aerospace engineering or any other forms of engineering (Career Discovery Encyclopedia). Another requirement is having a high understanding of physics, calculus, trigonometry, and geometry, as well as good communication skills (Career Discovery Encyclopedia).Additionally it is beneficial to have a doctorate’s degree, which is acquired after 8 years in university (Career Discovery Encyclopedia). With a doctorate's degree, it gives an individual the opportunity of later becoming a supervisor, who takes new people and teaches them how to do the job, and is basically the head engineer (Career Discovery Encyclopedia). However if one only has a bachelor’s degree, then they are less likely to gain a promotion, even with experience. The negatives of becoming an aeronautical engineer are that the big companies offer limited job openings are they are located in California, Texas, and Washington (Aerospace Engineers)”. Therefore, if one was hired by any of the main aerospace companies, they would have to move to one of those states. Also, it means to gain internships and more experience in the field when in college, one must study in one of these states to find a or live in these statesave a good engineering job(Aerospace Engineers). Also aerospace engineers spend an incredible amount of hours at work. On average, aerospace engineers have to work 40+ hours a week and even more in order to finish projects on time. The problem with having long hours is that most people get tired, and then, they do their job sloppily. As stated in the thesis, aerospace engineering is an incredibly competitive field. If job openings are hard to find, it could take a long while to find any job, and while you’re waiting, you’re not working or getting paid. The positives of being an aerospace engineer, is that once you have been awarded a contract to work on a spacecraft vehicle, then you have the contract to build it, which is usually a 1-2 years time span (Tahim 1-20-13). The longer projects you earn contracts for, the longer you have a job working as an aerospace engineer. Also, once you win a contract, you are your own boss and you decide how to take on the project (Tahim 1-20-13). Also, many contracts are challenging and it would make you think more than you usually would, and increase your intelligence. Also, even though aerospace engineering is a very competitive field, it’s only growing. The field of Aerospace engineering will increase by 5% when the year 2020 hits (U.S. Labor Bureau). This means more job openings for more engineers. Also, companies have started spreading work to other states, such as ******ia. The beginning salary of a aerospace engineers in America is $97,480 a year (U.S. Labor Bureau). The highest paid aerospace engineers, however, have salaries that go up to as high as $143,360 a year (U.S. Labor Bureau). The highest state payment for an engineer is ******ia, which gives $59.61 per hour (U.S. Labor Bureau). That’s about a 6-10 dollar extra per hour than every other state. Also, the average national pay per hour is $49.24 (U.S. Labor Bureau). Therefore, another benefit of being an aerospace engineer is that one can provide for themselves and their family and live a comfortable life. With the highly competitive field, the final frontier for humans being explored by machines made by aerospace engineers, and the high skill of endurance, ingenuity, and passion are what makes an engineer, and with me loving math as well, aerospace engineering is the perfect match for me. This is what aerospace engineers, who make spacecraft, go through to go past their limit to put a man on the moon, though the job pays well, it’s more than just work; it’s just a hobby they love to do and won’t ever stop |

Most seems good but where you have "rocket's" i'm not sure it needs an apostrophe but I am not 100% sure.
