I think that spar rating should be displayed in profiles. However, it should be optional in case people don't want others seeing their rating.

If there isn't enough space, I think rating should replace the losses statistic. The problem is that people still use the win/loss ratio to determine how good someone is, which isn't entirely accurate. If a good player only spars noobs to preserve their high w/l ratio, they will maintain a good one. If a pro only spars other pros, their w/l may be near even.

The rating system used for spars is a far more accurate indication of how good you are, because it considers how good your opponent is when adding/removing points and also is easy to change(say you sucked for a long time and had like a 3000-5000 record, but improved and are now the best sparrer on the server. Your win/loss would still stuck and people would assume you are bad.

Wins should remain on profiles, because they represent how dedicated you are to sparring and are an overall achievement, much like kills.

It's based loosely on this.

basically let's say everyone starts with 5000 points, and that's the base or "average"

Player a has 6000 points, he's above average. Player B has 4000 points, he's below average.

If player a beats player b, he won't get very many points because he is sparring a player that isn't very good in comparison to him, so it should be an easy match, and player b won't lose very much. If player b beats player a, he will get a ton because he beat a player that's supposedly way better than him, and player a will lose a rather large amount.

If player a and player b have equal ratings, they earn and lose equal amounts of points(unless they have different deviance, which is basically how long it's been since you have sparred, if you go a while your rating changes more rapidly)

What this does is accurately determine how good a player is. I can spar the worst sparrers on classic all day and get a 10/1 W/L ratio, and my rating might only reflect that of an average player since I'm getting such easy matches. I could spar pros all day, and get a 1/1 W/L ratio because they provide a challenge. However, my rating would still remain accurate no matter who I spar because of how it works.

That's quite the opposite. It's easy to get a good W/L by nitpicking your spars(IE pro just entered the room, I move to another room with noobs to avoid a hard match). If you try to nitpick your spars, your rating should still be accurate(unless you boost), because of how the system works.

It isn't very accurate your points go up much slower but your never losing since your facing opponents you know you can beat which isn't what sparring is about. It wouldn't be fair to the pro who deserves to be above him but he isn't "knit picking" his spars putting him at a disadvantage

Even if you're "knit picking" to spar against easy opponents, you're bound to mess up 1 time or another and lose a large amount of points, evening it out. if you're "knit picking" for w/l, your w/l will be very good.

Its very hard to mess up while just picking your spars and most ppl avoid PCs so that's another thing  

Would be a good idea, supported. If people are going to selectively pick their opponents, they'll either mess up, or won't get better as as sparer because they'll be too busy laming 1-2 points per win.

But these people don't care what we think they just want the points because they believe it says who's the best.

they should add PK deaths to stats so i can laugh at the PKers who always boast about the big number in their profile.

btw, thats not you twilit..only coincidence that your post is above mine. I JUST REALLY HATE THOSE NOOBS WHO HAVE 100K PKS AND USE IT AS AN INSULT TO SOMEONE WITH PKS LESS THAN 20K. ATM, im playing on a second account and im getting so much **** for not having 160k PKS.

most of the people that called me "noob" are my friends ..they dont know that its me though. I didnt realized untill now that they really take this **** seriously. LIKE OMFG ANYONE CAN GET 100K PKS... INVEST A LOT OF TIME AND YOU'LL REACH 100K.
