Called Pokemon: The Origin
It's set in the Kanto region and follows Red as the main character.

I'm excited, will be interesting to see a Pokemon anime not centered around Ash and Pikachu.

I saw that as well, now the dumb debate of ash=red can halt.

Also, the art style is so mature looking. I hope they actually make it a series and not a special.

Can't wait :.) I agree the art does look more mature. Hopefully the dialogue and action is as well.

But Ash was a horrible pokemon trainer.

I'm not saying Red can't start out as a noob, but it would be nice to see him(and his pokemon) grow into into a badass. You know... like how people play Pokemon.

The original was stupid with how Ash didn't attempt to catch any Pokemon, let all his good ones go, and in general won via flukes/asspulls. It'll be a nice change of pace to see a show where the main character even tries to accomplish the entire premise of the universe: catching and training pokemon.

I doubt I'll watch it anyways... but maybe if it's anything like the Pokemon Adventures manga it might be worth a watch.

Jesus, that is pretty morbid for Pokemon. I like it though.

You can see his Charmander and then later he has a Charizard so it does look like he'll be a legit trainer unlike Ash.

The main thing that bugged me about the Pokemon animes was the cringe factor.

Here's to hoping they tune that down.

In the manga, 'Gary' was actually called 'Blue', and there was a third character, a girl who was called 'Green'.
And almost in all aspects, Red is much better than Ash.
For one, he actually ages.
