I'm assuming you mean when people say 'must spread rep' basically I think you can only give rep once for a certain period of time (I think it's 12 hours not sure though) and if you try and rep again it will come up with that message. The other thing I think, you can't rep the same person twice in a row. |

Usually this'll happen when a user is receiving.several reps in a short amount of time. The system will think this user is "boosting" rep, and will ask reppers to give rep to others for while rather than stocking up one user's rep. A good way to deal with this is to give me your rep until the other user is free to receive rep again. Heuheu.

There's a set amount of rep you have to disperse around the community before repping the same person twice. For example: If you rep person y, you have to rep x amount of people before you can rep person y again. |

Probably means to ask other people to rep you... Or possibly the exact opposite. Which is repping everyone you see!

Spreading rep just means that you hit the little heart button underneath someone's name. Your reputation is represented by the small green bars, also underneath someone's name. For every 100 reputation points you receive you gain another green bar. So for example, if I have 95 rep points (which I do) if I receive 5 more rep points then I gain another bar. To prevent people from "boosting their reputation" they made it so you can only give rep to a person after you've given reputation x amount of times to other people. To sum this up, if someone says "spread the rep" they probably just mean they want you to give them reputation or something, depends on the situation.
