New Idea for a Tournament
I wasn't sure to post it because it's a bit off topic while at the same time about Graal, so I just decided to post it here. I had this idea of an academic decathlon. Basically, it's wear large groups of people compete with each other to answer academic questions based off of topics, such as Art, Music, Literature, Science, etc. Maybe something like this could attract more people to come play Graal, I'm not sure. But here's an example of how it works: Teams would be given, let's say a month, to study a specific topic on a subject. A team would consist of about nine people. The subjects would be Art, Science, Literature, Music, Current Events, Graal, and World History. One person for each subject, and two alternates who would fill in if someone can't make it. Guilds would have a week or two before studying officially starts in enter their guilds and members, similar to the GST. How would individual testing work? People in charge of these large events would PM each person during individual testing. Individual testing would be about thirty minutes long. They would have to answer 20 questions given to them, and only have about 5-10 seconds to answer a questions. Why do they have such short time? The point is to memorize their material. Who would teach/coach each individual? The coaches would be in charge of giving their individuals the material for their subject. Coaches could be either administrators or people appointed by administrators. It would be the coaches job to meet with each individual during their spare time and give them their material. So basically, coaches give the individuals their material. Why would anyone take their time to memorize so much information for a game? I asked myself this, and the answer is simple: for fun. Why do people take the time to practice and guild spar before a GST? They want to win. Whichever guild would get the highest scores in the Decathlon competition would win a prize, like the GST. A hat, graalats, etc. Their statues could also be placed somewhere, I'm not sure. Who would choose the topics for each individual subject? This would be decided be administrators, or people in charge of the event. So this is just an idea, not sure the admins would want to take too much time to make an entire new arena for this. But maybe it wouldn't need to be in an arena, maybe different guilds could go to different guild houses? Again this is an idea that I came up with out of nowhere, I don't really expect it to get accepted or something like that. This was just for fun. :0 |

Dude, Connor was the real reason we had the American Revolution. The Brits were actually Templars.
