The great Gatsby book
So im sure some of you had to read this for American Literature. I think this is an incredibly idiotic and pointless book. It may represent many themes, but how am I supposed to get past the main plot revolving around a dumb blondie who can't choose who she wants as her boy toy ?! Did anyone actually enjoy this? I'm not going to be less harsh on a book because it is a "classic". This book was garbage, i'm not saying I don't like calm books with casual plots and realistic characters... I am just saying that this books plot was absurd and pissed me off. All the symbolism beside, how does this group of affairs and love have anything to do with representing American Literature. It's making me feel ashamed I am related to it. |

The book was written by an American Expatriot. I think he was trying to make fun of America, since he moved to France.

I can understand why you didn't care for the plot, but Gatsby has some of the greatest writing I have ever read.

Was supposed to read it in 11th grade. But it was the week after EOIs and the teacher wasnt going to give assignments over it, so everyone blew it off. I read half of it. Might Redbox the movie some day if im that bored.

It's a beautifully written novel with a plot reflecting the lifestyle of the roaring 20s. I actually loved the book but maybe thats because, as someone not from the States, I found it to be much more engaging.

Has this forum in general just become a place for anger and hatred to be vented? "Ermagard, I jus red dis book in Engrish and it sux arse." On the topic of Graal you've got: "ERMAGARD, I'VE BEEN BAND. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU." |
