So this item you would get from presents at Christmas time but I wanted to know if you could make it something more than what it is.
This item lets you put your body color on this Clothes Hanger but the only thing that bugs me is that only you can use it, but no one else can.

The owner of the house can only swap their clothes out on it and no one else.
So I wanted to know if you could as well add a option to let other players use this item so their body color can change to whatever colors you put on the hanger.

This will be very helpful since many players ask for the colors I use on the regular starter body since it has the old style and looks like something from DBZ but most of the time I am not on and I can slot them it so I wanted to put it in my house so they can get the colors quickly.
The colors are from VIP.  

If they were to add on this they would also have to sell it in order to make their time worthwhile

Like I care if they sell it.  

The code behind this would be very easy to do, we've been doing it for 10+ years on the client version. I think they could sell it as a cool accessory for house guests.

They already actually support the functionality he is talking about. He simply wants it to adapt permissions to share with friends. I took a quick glance at the script and it seems to be very old. I think it may predate the "owner only" option of furniture. It won't be hard to probably adapt the new group permissions from the fence gate, but I'm a bit preoccupied at the time with other things. I'll take a look at it when I get the chance. Could be simple or could be hard depending on how it actually goes about it.

Have wanted this a long time, but have never bothered posting this, but since it is on topic: I think the hanger should allow you to swap entire bodies, not just colors. The only time I change colors is if i am changing bodies too, so it makes sense. (other players are only able to swap if they own the body that is currently on display.)

Probably. Could possibly put in checks to resolve this, and it may be why it wasn't set to public in the first place. This is why it could have been very easy, but also turned into a bit of a headache.  

The Hat Stand furniture prevents this. If someone tries to swap hats when the hat stand is displaying a hat they do not own, their hat will go on the stand, but will be set to no-hat.png (or whatever).

Sharing slots does not allow you to wear VIP colors if you do not have VIP.

Would looking at these scripts help find a way?  

I feel like swapping colors would not be the best route to go for visitors. Owners should be able to swap colors, but visitors should only be able to get the colors?

Also the scripting bit isn't difficult, it's making sure you account for most of the possibilities the change can introduce.  

Colors is one thing, but what about the body/head combinations? It would be awesome to have a statue/hanger for sale (5k or more?) that allowed players to just grab it and copy the appearance, to the best of their account's options/ability.

I think this one's a no-brainer (the concept, I mean). Tbh I thought they already worked this way.

I wouldn't mind seeing these sold in red barn or mod town furniture, as well, but not for cheap. Maybe 8k a piece. I haven't been playing during the last couple of Christmases, but in the past, a number if gifts that were originally received during Xmas (the password block, the piano, the player statues I think?) were later sold to the public. I think it's fair.
