Free Screen Video Recording Software?
Can anybody recommend a free program that records your screen as a video? I know Rufus or someone recommended one a while back but I've forgotten.

FRAPS is awesome and doesn't really bog your computer down when you record because it's uncompressed. The downside is that the free version only records 10 seconds(so gotta get the paid one... somehow.) and uncompressed video means you gotta get a video editor to save it in a compressed format to chop down the file size. Oh, and it records directly from the DirectX buffer instead of the screen like most recorders, meaning it's only applicable to games and the like. I use FRAPs to record, and Camtasia to edit/save. If I can't use FRAPs for whatever reaon, I use Camtasia to record... but I tend to not like doing that because it puts a big dent on my resources. |
