How Do I setup Dual Monitors?
So In a game I play called Archeage there's something you can do called trade runs, and I like to do other things while I play. The problem is, I can't make the window small enough so I can watch anime and play at the same time. So I'm thinking of getting a 1920x1080 monitor, in addition to the current 1600x900 one I have now. My GPU is a Radeon 7870, and it only has 1 DVI port. My current monitor only takes DVI. When I buy my new monitor, how would I set it up so I have 1 game in full screen, and another thing like a movie on the other screen? PS: any good 1080P monitors on Newegg or Tigerdirect? preferribly not too big since it needs to fit on my desk. |

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/lg-monitor-24m34db You will want to get an HDMI to DVI cable or adapter to plug into the DVI port on the monitor, or if the monitor you buy has HDMI then just straight HDMI to HDMI. Games will go full-screen on whichever one is your main but you will want to use Windowed or Windowed 'Full Screen' modes if you want to be able to multi-task without having to deal with switching between game and desktop mode (same idea when u alt-tab out of a game). It'll make more sense when you actually have it setup. |

It's actually fairly simple provided you have the right ports. It's simply a matter of plugging it in; Windows will configure it for you. No setup, driver installation, anything on your part. It's a lot simpler than you'd think.
