Laptop Issue: Keeps Freezing
It seems as I have yet another issue revolving around my laptop, and I'm not entirely sure how to fix it (if there's a fix). Basically, it Freezes. Randomly. To where I can't move the mouse and everything is unresponsive. Not sure why, because it never used to do this. Eventually started happening every so often, very sudden. Now, at least today, it has progressed and became much much worse and much more often. Is there any reason to this? My laptop is Toshiba Satellite A-105. I'm hoping to get a new laptop this Christmas, but until then I have only this so not sure if I can fix it. If you can help, please do! Thank you! (Typed this on my laptop right now actually and it hasn't froze yet. Been on for about 20 minutes which is good for how its been acting today. So I have no idea what's going on.) |

First thing I'd to is check for large processes eating up all my RAM and CPU. Just go to the Processes tab under Task Manager. If anything is eating up an absurd amount of power you can either end the process (assuming you know what it is) or uninstall the related program.

Not seeing anything I'd be able to fix under Task Manager. Not sure what the issue is still. I ran some system cleaners, it may have helped, but still not sure. Here's what's happening now: I can run my Laptop, it doesn't seem to freeze until I run multiple programs, or larger programs like Graal. It either stays on for awhile on web browser's etc, but I think it eventually freezes even then. |

I remember you telling me your specs, and if I remember correctly were very similar to my old computer which couldn't handle more than one large process (like Chrome and Skype). So your best bet is to wait for your new computer.

The thing is, it just randomly started happening. So I don't understand why it's just now an issue.

Hard drive is probably failing or it's overheating, that computer is close to 8 years old so it's definitely time for it to be replaced. You can try running: chkdsk C: /F in a cmd prompt and seeing what shows up. |

Sounds like an overheat to me. Try clearing up your drives. Probably a fan failure somewhere though, if it's as old as fp4 says it is.

If it appears to fix a lot of things then thats a potential sign that the hard drive is going bad. |

My Computer is 9 Years old but its quite good, Do you use Acer? Acer uses Dual Core so its probrably fast

I had that same laptop 7 years ago. Get a newer laptop. It's probably falling apart.

1: Task Manager -> Start Up -> Disable everything you dont need. 2: My Computer/This PC -> Windows (C:) -> Properties -> Tools -> Optimise. Defrag everything there. 3: Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features -> Uninstall things you dont need. Be sure to uninstall Ads maker. They make you lag when you use a browser |
