No idea... I don't really see the point of having these if we don't know what they do.

The different fractions are used so the NPC (Cowboys and Indians) don't shoot at you, for example, if your in the cowboy faction, cowboy NPC don't shoot at you but Indians do, and then just flip that if your an Indian faction.

Those are the main factions, they mean the sub-factions like bandit, sherrif, etc

Not much apart from helping players to roleplay a little:
Player 1 - "Howdy partner, i'm a Sheriff'
Player 2 - "Oh no, i'm a bandit - I better run away!"

It'd be cool if sub-factions had an impact on something.
