Anyone? 8.2 on IMDB, 93% critics on Rotten Tomatoes, a **** ton of other film accolades. One of my top ten movies of all time, anime or not. Hell, I hate calling it anime cause it really isn't. Let's go with animated film. Too much of a sophisticated style to bunch it up with the vast majority of anime.
Manages to be a heart-wrenching story despite having a fairly climax-less plot (a beautifully simple thing in this film) and without the use of any tragic cliches. Had some very interesting plot and character dynamics. Beautiful animation - easily in the top-tier of animated cinematography, far above the rest of almost everything else. Code Geass, the show that I hold as a golden standard for so many things, doesn't even hold a candle to the cinematography quality of this film, it was nothing short of a masterpiece. Even compared to Hollywood blockbuster films, Wolf Children had some of the most memorable cinematography I've ever seen.
I seriously recommend you go see it now, so long as you're prepared for a feels trip. Even if you hate anime, it's a really beautiful movie and doesn't cater to the anime audience, but more rather a piece of literature for the general public.
