Thailand
Soon I'll be going to Thailand for 2 weeks. I'll be spending half of my time in Bangkok and the rest in Koh Samui. I'm really looking forward to it but there is one problem; I'm terrified of spiders. If I see a spider the size of a grape at home I'll scream and I'm pretty sure the Thai ones are much worse. What can I do to make sure they wont sneak into my room at night or make it so I won't encounter one? |

if they're common and pesky in Thailand then there should be repellants sold in every corner, like in the Philippines they give away these bracelets that deter mosquitoes away and they work like magic

Oh **** this reminds me of a story my friend told me when he went to Thailand. Apparently theres a species of spider there that is highly venomous that hides in people's shoes. He told me he saw a ****ing humongous spider big enough to fit in a size 11 shoe crawl out from under one of those little cabinets where people store their shoes and it scared the **** out of him. |

Honestly, as for repelling them I have no ****ing clue. I'm sure people there have a way with them considering fried insects are local delicacies in Southeast Asia. Edit: Ok looked into this a little and apparently spiders aren't really that huge of a problem since they're pretty fearful of us humans. If the scare factor is what's bothering you then really there's nothing much to be done about that. What you SHOULD watch out for are giant ****ing centipedes and scorpions. Centipedes are actually pretty aggressive and their bite is a lot worse than most insects there and scorpions can hide in shoes or clothes left on the ground so watch out for that. |

I had similar concerns about my trip to Japan and its giant ****ing huntsman spiders, but I didn't see any. I doubt that you'll think about it when you're there on holiday, unless you actually see something, so don't worry about it.
