Never really considered this until I realized I was doing it differently...

Wat?... Do you people not know how to type? The correct answer isn't even in the poll. You're supposed to use the shift key opposite of the letter you are capitalizing... It's quicker and you don't have to make awkward finger positions...

I think I tend to use LShift more; just a habit from playing games and having controls set to LShift more than RShift.

She's asking a personal question man, there is no 'correct' way to type, typing is just typing some methods are better but it's all personal preference and people type different. She's asking what they use not what they should be using. I rarely use the actual shift key, most of my keys are remapped completely. The left alt key beside my space bar is how I use shift all the time. Most people I know do only use one shift key, and using the shift closest to what you want to capitalize is faster than using the opposite because you only need to use one hand. (although if speed is a must for you I suggest remapping completely it really helps) |

IMO, hitting the opposite shift is faster because when my right pinky reaches out for the R-shift, my other fingers move a little bit with it. Hitting two keys with the same hand often requires awkward positioning, such as capital O. And what happens when you need a capital A, Q, or Z? |

Yeah, teaching yourself to be part of the one hand master race is just like teaching your self to type normally. Hand positioning only feels awkward at the start, my hands are all over the place I have never used the "normal" typing method simply because each person works best with their own unique style. Even when some methods are faster it really depends on the persons ability to use said method, I can see it feeling awkward for you but I've used it for a long time so it's normal for me. |
