The Valve Lawsuit

Okay so if you haven't heard about this yet then you might want to check this link.

Essentially they're being sued for allowing CS:GO's gambling to take place (i.e. how they allowed users to link their accounts with websites such as csgolounge)

It's especially big because Counter Strike's gambling industry is estimated at a couple billion dollars.

Thoughts?

So hard to regulate, especially when it's online. The rules may say you have X chance to win, but is that what's really in the code? I do think it should be legal though.

The only reason why the items has value is Because the people not Valve.

Valve doesn't even make real money from it. They only make it from people selling it on steam or buying the keys and Sticker packs.

The value is from the players of the game. When a new case comes out the value of that case goes up for a few days which will slowly go down.

This lawsuit will be useless just some angry Gambler who lost all their items

Well, that's a legal issue for the company that rigs it. But I don't get why you would have to be 18 to gamble. Like the Fantasy Football websites were going through that gambling issue a year or 2 ago.

When I read this on reddit I giggled for a while, You can't sue valve because you lost your items in a fit of stupidity. Valve does not regulate these sites as the lawsuit suggests.

Valve has been sued over stupid things like this before and usually come out on top.

Moral of the story = you can't sue valve

Well it is pretty blatant that skin betting is pretty much borderline gambling (skins are chips) and should NOT be available for minors.

If my kid were ever dumb enough to steal my credit card and gamble online, I would have them put down. You should have to input the pin number in order to make purchases, you think they would learn after so many lawsuits...

the skins can be easily sold to websites like csgostash and then mass sold on a website in seconds

so yes it is real currency

Csgostash is just a wiki for CSGO.
You are thinking about OPSkins

But yes. I even buy skins myself.

CSGO is just more well known I am sure their is sites for gambling for TF2 and H1Z1 since you can trade and sell those items as well but CSGO is more valued since players have made a currency on it. Keys are 2.50. Ak-47 RedLine is 5 dollars and even knives are currency as well. Which is mainly the Karam Tiger Tooth which is for top tier stuff which is I believe 200 keys.
