Graal The Adventure's Summer Activity

I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun with a game as I did during the month of August on Graal the Adventure.

For those that don’t know, Graal the Adventure saw a spike in activity in the second half of the summer, reaching consistent playercounts of 30-40 while being completely ignored by the administration.

In the early days of August, I asked Thor to open up the old Graal the Adventure Events Skype group following an isolated incident of 10 players coming online at one time to do events. This Skype group, along with the GTA General group, provided the means of connection that started the explosion of activity. We all just assumed that the group would never really be used; only for announcing events if something like that isolated incident ever happened again. However, people actively used the groups to organize times for events, which eventually led to events almost all day, every day, for the entire month of August.

On August 15th, we reached a milestone of 23 players online, and a while later we hit 30.

All the while, MD refused to put us on the serverlist, and instead released Maloria a couple weeks into September.

Our community, although small, was well-knit, taking on such group projects as building Es.

We even renewed an ancient rivalry (Albeit this didn’t end up going anywhere due to the activity going down)

All in all, the month or so I spent on GTA was the most enjoyable time I’ve ever had on Graal. Thanks to Thor, Skyzer, Ranger, Basi, Puppin, Mike J., Racil, Spyke, Maximus_Asinus, Scriptless, PoJo, Meeka, Frana, Kuzative, Gaga, Rose, Erika/Sophie, Ravster, Bubbles, PlayDate, Snow Noob, Ria, Skitt, Tucker, Cup of Joe, Vendetta, Dixie, and everyone else who actively played, for making all this possible. Here’s hoping to more events next summer.

Saying he released Maloria instead of GtA is a poor choice of words. If it wasn't for the politics involved between Thor and upper management, Maloria would've still been listed under Development with the difference that GtA would've also been put under Playerworlds.

u guys are aboslutely ******ed for wanting to develop GtA despite the way unixmad + PWA have treated thor, the server, and all the effort put into that project

I don't want to develop GtA. I completely agree with Thor in that there's no hope realistically for the server, and so there's no point in continuing to develop it. That's not to say we can't have fun with what's already there.

If upper management ever makes good on their promises, then I'll want to develop GtA.

They're probably letting it be developed until it goes under, or until iClassic starts dwindling. Then they will probably port all of the resources poured into it toward iClassic.
