Is it just me, or has the map button been disappearing frequently over the past week? 0.o

The map does it sometimes when you log off in your house or in the spar arena. You can get it back by simply walking into a different room.

Think of the poor people searching for issues in the future!

I've actually gone to use the map and found an empty space. Yeah, its a small bug. As said above, it's easily fixed by entering a new screen.

Actually, you can still see descriptions on an iPod. I am on an iPod as well.
