Yet again I want to thank callimuc for teaching me the usage of tokenize, but now I need help with that.
What is the usage of param= and why is it used for?
Also how may I end a substring in a chat without tokenize.
And how can I find (for example) temp.pl = find the player's Graal num or community name (not the player using command)

In what case do you mean it? If it is something like:

temp.param = "sword.png";
setAni("yourGani", temp.param); 


it is basicly that you have named in seperately in a flag and placed that into the setAni() function. You could also name it like

PHP Code:

temp.whatever = "sword.png";
setAni("yourGani", temp.whatever); 


Works with everything. It's just the case of naming

So you mean that you just have a part of the chat?

echo(temp.text.substring(5)); //should echo 'this is an echo'
echo(temp.text.substring(5, 15)); //should echo 'this is an'

You can do something like below:

temp.pl = findPlayer("Graal760972"); //returns the account of the player
//or
temp.pl = findPlayer("Graal760972").account; //returns the account of the player
//or
temp.pl = findPlayer("Graal760972").communityname; //returns the communityname of the player; wouldn't use it in general scripts since there are people without a communityname

//than you can go on with the flag (doesnt matter which way you have choosen)
echo(temp.pl.onlinetime); 


Depending on how you track the player, you could do stuff like this aswell:

PHP Code:

temp.pl = findNearestPlayer(this.x, this.y);
echo(temp.pl); //returns account
echo(temp.pl.account); //returns account
echo(temp.pl.communityname); //returns communityname

I just wanted to know what does params[1] mean?

Oh that. With that you are using switch() and cases. Lets say you have something like:

function onCreated() {
  setSomething("echo", "hello dude");
}
function setSomething() {
  switch (params[0]) { //scan the params[0]
    case "echo":  //if the params[0] are "echo"
      echo(params[1]); //echo the params[1]
    break;
    
    case "chat": //if the params[0] are "chat"
      this.chat = params[1]; //chat the params[1]
    break;
  }
} 


basicly when you triggered the setSomething() function, you sent 2 params in it. You can imagine it similar to the array thing I explained you yesterday, but in this case the params[] are the params you sent within the trigger. So it's like the params[] is the array you sent for the function. You can always check the params by doing something like:

function onCreated() {
  setSomething("hello", player.account, player.communityname);
}
function setSomething() {
  echo(params); //will echo all the params which have been sent
} 


you can do this aswell:

PHP Code:

function setSomething(greeting, acc, commname) { //you can name it however you feel like. Something like (setSomething(a, b, c) would also work
  echo(a);
  echo(b);
  echo(c);
}

all the switch() case: stuff is actually the same as using if() checks

There might be people being able to explain it better or fix something I explained wrong. Also there are probably more people around which want to learn scripting whereas you could always refer them back to this thread  

A params (known as a paramiter) is something used to get into the person's computer. For example a Facebook login. Facebook needs to see if you entered your password correctly, so it goes in your computer

What the **** are you talking about? Hes talking about GS2 and not your computer crap

I remember you explaining this to me about a year and a half ago (or something like that) along with how to use tokenize when we were nooby devs

To sum it up:

The parameters in scripting are normally the extra variables in an exucutable command that aren't defined. Like, say you exectue DoSomething(echo, temp.extraFlag); then on the DoSomething,

PHP Code:

function DoSomething(temp.command) {
  switch (temp.command) {
    case "echo": {
      echo(params[1]); //Echo the second member of the array, 'params.'
      break;
    }
  }
} 


Now that I think about it, params is just an array of the variables/strings in the executed command.
