Swords shading could be done a little better but at least you've put in good contrast to it.

Shading an an-analiasing is what I generally have trouble with as tutorials say to use minimal colors, but Ill keep experimenting with them.

That wasn't the issue I was addressing. I'm not able to grasp the volume of the object clearly with the way you shaded it. If you want further elaboration I could edit it and show you what I mean.

If you want and it's not a bother.

Because I know you were trying to make a buster sword, I know what the actual volume of the object is supposed to be. Like a squarish slab of metal. The way you shaded shows that the volume or shape of the object is something else which would be perfectly fine if it wasn't supposed to be a buster sword modelled after FF7 which already has a defined volume its supposed to be. Notice how mines feel a lot more squarish than yours but also has enough depth/"popping out" to it.

I see. Thanks for the info. Would it still look like that with light coming from the top like mine?

I want winter break to get here already, the closer to it the more work teachers pile on me.

Another example of volume shading.

Another example of volume shading.

Im a bit confused by the third but I'm guessing the intent wasn't to keep the same shape.

Well, I'm not sure how to particularly explain Volume. It's something you try your best to define. Like how can I make the shades pop the object out rather than the outline. The 2nd sword is what I interpret the volume of the object to be based on your initial sword.

The good thing about your first sword was that it DID define some kind of volume. The initial issue I had with it was that it didn't follow the "squarish feel to it" Yours felt as if the middle meaty part of the blade kinda pointed out towards. Anyway, the only issue with the volume of your first sword was the top and the bottom part of the metal. Am I making things any clearer?

I think I can see it, classes are about to start so I'll reply later.

You should make a cigarette .gif and submit it as a hat.

Glowing embers and wavering smoke.

Its the best I could do since I can only use gimp to make eyes blink.

I'm sad that only 4 or 5 people have bothered to say anything thus far. Don't be shy.

Shock 12-15-2012 07:31 PM

Looks good. :D I wish I had gimp.

Snk, please add this. I wan't to wield a gun and puff, like the app icon.

There some strange effects going on with it, I realized just now...
