More Baddy Infested Areas

Since the introduction of the Baddy Killing leaderboards, demand for the small number of worthwhile Baddy Killing spots will increase.
:D
Can we, the community of BKers, request some more areas where there is between 3-6 Baddies, such as areas of Balamb Island? Just as there are PK areas that are meant for players to be harvested in.

I don't mean to be picky, but these are a hindrance and I personally would prefer traditional baddies, as the blobs jump around and aren't really worth the time.

Compared to PK, blobs are like trying to kill a delayer over and over.

the community of BKers,

lol :D:P:D

give them back the baddy cave by the shovel cave so they can get up the rankings quick

Toxic 07-24-2014 09:19 PM

Anyone remember that Bat Cave in Mod? Why not bring that back?

Craftz 07-24-2014 10:09 PM

There are plenty of baddy infested areas that people rarely go into. There are caves full of rats or bats inside the rail cave systems.

Dusty 07-24-2014 10:16 PM

I don't think players are looking for more baddies to kill so much as quickest/easiest baddies to kill.

Well, this new baddy kills leaderboard is a perfect excuse to open new area(s), containing humanoid baddies (which is what people want).

Personally I would like to see the return of the classic green baddies. Seems like they're a dying breed lately. Maybe, a new "dungeon" section in the castle? Lots of rooms full of the classic sword-wielding green baddies, some chests, and maybe even a rare spawn "elite" red baddy (kind of like the bandit leader), with 10 hp and perhaps smarter AI, who drops at least a gold gralat, maybe a loot chest, maybe even some rare drops like a hat or (dare I say) mount.

One more thing: I would love to see more future areas requiring higher and higher baddy kill totals to enter (and not just future towers). I think we all had fun as noobs trying to kill the number of baddies required to enter the castle or Sardon's Tower for the first time

I'm glad people have taken a greater interest in baddies. Now Dusty has more of an incentive to make more types :giggle:

I always have incentive to make more baddies, as it's a fun thing to do! The issue is there's no places to really put them and creating areas exclusively for farming baddies sounds lame.

Kendama 07-25-2014 02:37 AM

Please lets have giant fire breathing dragons that have 1000 health and appear once a year and fly to Graal city and burns everyone alive, and anyone burned is permabanned :D

I vote yes!!

Thallen 07-25-2014 02:38 AM

Classic overworld is getting too crowded, time to develop an underwater world like old Classic had, I forget what the name of that place was

Yes!! please an underground area with a different play style would be fantastic (tbh potentially is stefan was awesome it would play as a different server, in order to decrease server lag, and unlike FB server it would be free therefore it would be populated. A whole new server accessed through the zorbi caves that rests under the Classic gmap :D

Agreed, that's why you spiff it up with chests, bugs, perhaps a new rps hat NPC. Maybe another type of daily component, like the loot chests in the hidden bandit cave that respawn every day. But it would need to be different than that and different than the pyrat daily. Expanding my castle dungeon idea, maybe there's a locked prisoner down there who's innocent, and one of the guards has the key. So you make it maybe a 5% drop rate on all the baddies (except the rare spawn, which would drop it 100% of the time), and the player kills baddies till they find it. Maybe they get lucky and get it on their first kill. You let the prisoner out and he/she rewards you with a chest that was sitting in the cell with her. This chest is added to your inventory (much like the spoils from the giant blob), and when you open it you get a random amount of gralats, say from 100 to 1000. The prisoner makes a break for it but is caught in 24 hours and so on and so fourth.

Additionally, the dungeon itself should have a steep baddy kill requirement before being able to enter. It makes sense, too.

There you go, Dusty. A new area full of baddies that makes sense (a dungeon in the castle would surely have guards), and has stuff to do rather than just farming baddies for the sake of it.

Nice!
I don't know how memory allocation or anything about the Graal server itself works, but I'd imagine something like this would alleviate a lot of lag from the ground-level overworld, assuming something like this was all on a secondary GMAP.

It was never really intended to be a secondary overworld. It was meant to be a way to get from one dive spot to another(aka like the lake in swamp town). Even if it was, I highly doubt it would pull players away from the overworld... after all, the railroad caves themselves didn't do a very good job at that either in the long run.

Not really. As is most things made it's not scrapped, but there is little reason to push it above the priority of other projects being worked on. It was also more of a "pretty" thing to go alongside diving, and there wasn't a lot of true content planned for it.

It'll be sitting on the back burner until I get to the point where I feel underwater content would be a useful direction to go.

try adding a swarm of baddies in the caves that might get people in there.

This strikes a chord with me... waaaay back in "The adventure of link" (LOZ2, for NES) and also in several gameboy versions of the legend of zelda series, there was some pretty interesting side scrolling action, which the mini game "Jump and Run" seemed reminiscent of ;)

Stuff like this does seem to be just pretty, but it adds a lot of flavor to the game, if done well. I hope to see something using your diving/swimming system! It not only looks good, but has potential - maybe test it out with a mini game format first? (I still have yet to even get IN to cliff climber, what with the Queue system running and all!)

Oh, and why aren't there any kamikazee baddies?

Droid 07-25-2014 09:51 AM

Couldn't the community get involved with with making new baddies? maybe a simple template for a new baddie would be good, kind of like a small friendly based competition.

This would allow level designers to include others baddie design in their levels, not that I know anything about levels. But, a simple template where people could design one and post it here would be great!

To answer what you asked me and this post here: There is no standard template for baddies; they are all made of individual sprites, ganis and are scripted with their own behaviors. This gives rise to a greater variety of baddy styles.

So how can the community experiment and try to create their own? or is this not possible as of yet?

Wushen 07-25-2014 10:55 AM

Would be fun to have levels that we need to complete fighting Baddies and to beat a final boss at the end with a randomised reward like the ones from giant blob.

1. you can learn how to create one from scratch
http://www.graal.net/index.php/Creat.../Gani/Tutorial

2. you can use an existing baddy and edit it

Attachment 15735

still, it doesnt mean it would be used in-game

Droid 07-25-2014 05:36 PM

Thank you, i might have to sit down for a while and read through it all, but I am down for a challenge.

Anyway, regarding the main topic, is this something admins could implement in the near future with a "big update" on the way containing reward hats?
