In a shop you use money (gralats) so you couldnt trade guns or anything like that...
But... Thats a great point! but what about items, they will either be dropped to trade or sold at a shop, the only advantage to selling them at a shop would be that you dont have to spend your time at the start saying "Selling items" and stuff like that...
