One party/political group would be disastrous as well. No other voices will be able to be heard, and would be more of an oligarchy by that group to take complete control of the government. Tyranny by the masses. Likewise, a two party system is also disastrous. It does not place a check on the other party. It creates a conflict that divides the nation's beliefs which leads to a whole set of domestic issues. A representative should represent the people, not the party.

How is it not checking the other party? If the House, Senate, and Executive office were all Democrat nobody would have any say in anything. They'd be able to pass anything they'd want.
The GOP has majority in the House, they are checking the Senate and Executive branch. It's called Checks and Balances.
Each party has moderates they will sometimes vote against the ideals of their party. They're the ones that usually even things out.
You are right that our flaws our showing with our government and the the 2 party system. The problem is our voted officials are ALL TALK and no walk. They will say whatever they need to say to get in, once they're in they run their own agenda, and that of lobbyists.
