Yeah, welcome to basic human language. People are free to express themselves in a negative manner, they're not free from the consequences though.

or what 99% of these tweets are: "Lol what a ******" or "Lol you're so gay" context really doesn't matter. It just proof that these homophobic words have infiltrated our language and are used regularly between people in conversations all the time.

The fact that they root from homophobic slurs is pretty much irrelevant when used in this context. Calling someone a sh1tface is just as bad as calling someone a ****** in this context. Yeah, I keep using that word because it's important.
The real outrage should be how badly people are treating eachother, targetting homophobic slurs is just a lazy way to look at it and probably the easiest way to gain support (next to the magical N word). Look at any given time in human history and slurs pop up. It's nothing new and there isn't much you can do about it. Remember how ******s were called Mongoloids?
