There is nothing wrong or selfish about giving yourself a gift on Christmas. If you're gifting yourself as well as being generous to gift others in the process, I don't see how it "ruins" Christmas. In reality, people gift themselves because it can provide health, protection, or enrichment to their life. Those are just examples but I could be wrong.
