Hmm... Perhaps make ammo not available through pickups on the map, reset every player's ammo count to 250, and force players to craft ammo.
Also, different ammo types
Bullets (used in rifles and pistols)
- Cartridges (-1 damage, cheap to make with common materials)
- Tin bullets (normal damage, moderate cost to make with common materials)
- Lead bullets (normal bullets, expensive to make with common materials)
- Silver bullets (triple damage to npcs, -2 damage, cheap to make with slightly rare materials)
- Steamjet pellets (tiny steam propelled canisters, +1 damage, very expensive and time consuming to make)
Shells (used in shotguns)
- Buckshot (normal)
- Birdshot (-1 damage, +3 pellets per shot and wider spread)
- Flechette (+1 damage, 1/2 pellets per shot and tighter spread)
- Slug (+2 damage, single pellet shot with very tight spread)
Arrows (used in bows and thrown weapons)
- pointy stick (-1 damage, quick and cheap)
- normal arrow (normal)
- fire arrow (fire damage over time)
- dynamite arrow (explosive)
- silver arrow (variant of silver bullets)
Ether (used in magic/misc weapons)
Lightning (normal)
Fire (fire damage over time)
Water (faster firing speed, -1 damage)
Earth (slower firing speed, +1 damage)
Air (higher spread, spreadshot (like shotgun) and -2 damage)
Players who don't have the time to craft ammo will need to buy it from an auction house, where they fill a buy order and a random seller is selected to have their product sold.
